Hi, I'm new.

I've been a smoker for over 30 years. For the last ten I smoked exclusively American Spirit Organic - used to be "Maroon," now it's "Turquoise."
I am vaping now to cut down and eventually quit tobacco.
It's working OK so far. I was smoking 30 cigarettes a day, now I'm at about 10 a day in ten days' time.
I've tried to quit cold turkey in the past and that sure as H-E-double hockey sticks didn't work.
I'm vaping V2 EX. I chose those because I can replace stuff easily at a gas station chain I use if I forget my vaping stuff, or it breaks, or whatever, so when I'm cut down or quit on real cigs I won't grab a pack of smokes and chimney away if I don't have my vape stuff.

I've tried five "flavors" so far, and liked all of them but one.

I've only been vaping for a week and a half, so I can't really make recommendations, I'm just telling my experiences so far.

The first day I started I got V2 Sahara, and before I even tried it I went to a vape shop and tried some samples and ended up getting a bottle of Lung Candy Camel Toe also.
The Sahara is OK. I liked it better the first couple days, probably because of the higher nicotine level (18 mg is what they carry at the gas station) but now I really prefer the Camel Toe (which I thought was too sweet at first.)

I also tried a small bottle of one called "Horsemen Premium." That one was foul. I think it was more created for Marlboro smokers than American Spirit smokers. (Look at the name, DUH.) I actually dumped it out. Good thing it was an inexpensive small bottle.

Then I got an order from EC Blend. I ordered Desert Gold and Desert Leaf. They aren't "steeped" enough yet but I tried the Desert Gold anyway and I like it, but I'm leaving the rest of it in the bottle for another week. I haven't tried the Desert Leaf yet.
They (EC Blend) also sent me a sample of Coumarin Reborn. Surprising enough, I really like that flavor. It's 0mg nicotine though ('cause it's a sample,) and I'm not there yet. I'm going to order some with nicotine at a later date.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Stephan Peters. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Hi Stephan and welcome to ECF. Susan~S gave you some good ideas on equipment as well as nicotine levels. Many of us find that, with vaping, cigarettes begin to loose their appeal and taste horrible. Then the transition becomes fairly easy. We are always here if you need us and their are lots of helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum. Best of luck to you on your vaping journey.

I'm afraid my opinion on V2 is not acceptable for a public forum, nor is it fair on V2.
To give yourself the absolute best chance, I would recommend replacing your hardware immediately and not using old technology at the highest prices on the market.

(From the man who spent $800 and never got even close to quitting smoking, from just 15 a day).

$800 to still be smoking?... yeh...

...They're way cheaper now. At gas stations. $12 for "starter kit" (one battery, atomizer, and charger) and I think it was $6 for two spare atomizers. Just sayin' They're stuff is still WAY expensive on the Internet, but at the gas station chains they've seemed to go the fast nickel route.

Actually, I'm finding you are right.

I found refilling those V2 EXs frequently was an issue. I ordered and am using a Kanger Evod2 now. I like it a lot better. But I work at night a lot, with long road trips to sites and I was still having issues having to refill on the way. The Evod2 holds about 1.5 ml, which lasts the whole trip as long as I actually have it full when I start. But of course it isn't always full when I start.

I was driving one of the trucks, instead of the car, and ran out of fluid in Bumscrew, PA and went to one of those hole-in-the-wall vape stores with one of those young guys with a bunch of facial iron to get fluid, and I got a Protank 3 there. That one lasts good, but I find it has "airy" puffs (at least using those Kanger ego bats.)

I'm not sure about the mechanics, but it looks like the inflow is from small indentations at the bottom of the 510 threading of the battery. I ordered an airflow control valve to see if I can fix that issue with the Protank. I also ordered a Vision2 Spinner to play with the voltages. I haven't got those yet.

I'm down to 5 stinkies a day.

I use about 2-3 ml of vape fluid a day. I don't know if that's a lot or not.
