So I have been lurking for about 4 weeks on this forum and finally decided to make that introductory post.

I am a 20+ years smoker who happened to see a Smoking Anywhere kiosk at the mall. Did a quick sample and decided to come home and do some research before purchasing. Good thing I did, because this is the site that popped up first via Google.

Purchased my first starter kit, a Joye 510 and some eliquid. Had only 6 analogs the first day of vaping coming from a 1 1/2 pack a day habit. Messed with the eliquid mixture over the next 3 days finally getting a mixture to my liking and have since quit analogs completely. Ordered a Tornado the following week and just sent in a 2 Chuck order this week.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped with the vast amount of information on this site.

hi sorry to .... in here but it won't let me post new thread...

i am 64 and smoke 2.5 packs a day. i would like to try e-cigs but if i understand right those 5 filters that come with starter kits are equal to 60 cigarettes, so that is bit over of what i smoke in a day. do they last longer or am i to think that i will need every day 5 refills?that would just cost me too much!or?
can someone advise me on what is the best for me to do, please.
thanking you in advance,
tonko

Hi Tonko,

Welcome to the forum. You can start a thread in the new members forum but not anywhere else until you have 15 posts - that's an anti spam rule.

As far as the cartridges go, you can refill the cartridges with eliquid that will cost anywhere from around $9 to $25 per 30ml of eliquid. The average rate around here is about 20ml/week but you could figure a bit more than that. I was a 3 pack a day smoker and I do about 25-30ml/week.

A popular model around here is the Joye 510 available here at a good price:

Joye 510 NO BOX

You might want to start with that so that you have something while reading the forum. That way you'll have something to refer to for all the terminology. While you're there, get at least 20ml of eliquid. If you spend $59 you get free shipping.

You may want to check out the library forum for some reading - there's many 'guides' there to help.

Hi Tonko! You're not butting in, but I believe you are able to post a new thread in the "New Members Section" only.

[...] i am 64 and smoke 2.5 packs a day. i would like to try e-cigs [...]

Great idea, and there are a lot of folks here that will help. First, let me tell you that you are NOT the average smoker, and some of the opinions and advice that you read here will NOT automatically translate to your situation. I'm 46, smoked for 30 years, and I smoked 3 packs of Kools per day.

[...] but if i understand right those 5 filters that come with starter kits are equal to 60 cigarettes, so that is bit over of what i smoke in a day.

That is not accurate. It sounds like advertising from a less-than-honest supplier. Actually translating e-liquid volumes into cigarettes is fuzzy guess-work and non-math, because there are so many variables and things we don't know about nicotine absorption, your level of "quit panic", your usual nicotine intake, etc., etc. Average is about 3 milliliters of e-liquid per day. I'm closer to 4 or 5 mL of 36 mg. liquid. That doesn't tell you much, does it? We'll work it out, don't worry.

[...] do they last longer or am i to think that i will need every day 5 refills?that would just cost me too much!or? [...]

Here's some good news and some bad news:

Replacing 2½ packs of cigarettes per day with e-liquid is MUCH cheaper than buying cigarettes. E-Liquid is the stuff that makes the "smoke" (vapor). The "hardware", however, can get expensive... it may take some time to "break even" if you spend a lot on hardware.

You will probably need at least 5 refills per day.

You do not have to buy the "pre-filled" "filters" (they are called cartridges, or carts, unless you are using cartomizers, or cartos). You can buy bottles of bulk e-liquid and refill them yourself. They are plastic, and last a long, long time. The filler that holds the e-liquid can be replaced with very cheap material that is easily available from local stores.

[...] can someone advise me on what is the best for me to do, please.

Yes, you should start by (and I'm very sorry about this, but there really is no good way around it) reading each and every one of the "Sticky" posts at the top of the "New Members Forum". Once you have a better idea of what is going on, we will be better able to help and/or guide you through this learning and decision-making process. We're pretty nice folks. :D

EDIT: I knew some smarter, faster-typing person would post while I was writing all of that stuff.

EDIT AGAIN: I just noticed that your location is "London", and I assume you mean the one in England? That may change some of the advice you get here. You may want to do business with a local company...
