I want to start using e-cigarettes but I don't know where to begin. I have read many mixed reviews about many e-cigs on youtube and that actually lead me here. I was thinking about starting on blu cigs but if there is anything better I am willing to hear everyone's opinion! After some research it seems that there is a lot to choose from so I'm not sure where to start.

Hi Kat.....what you need is a simplistic system that has good battery life, easy to fill and something that will last you for several hours at a time. I highly recommend the eGo, KGo or Riva systems. Many here use them, even those who have been vaping for a long time (albeit they have variable voltage mods and a ton of other gadgets).

I would highly recommend NOT buying a Blu system or anything that resembles a cigarette looking device. The adage goes, the more it looks like a cigarette the worse it is. Many of those slim cig look alikes do not have enough battery life for any length of time and the flavors are fair to poor.

Here are a couple links to reputable dealers that carry the eGo systems:

MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Clear Cartomizer Kit

e-Cigarette Kits :: eGo Starter Kits :: 510/eGo 650mAh Steel Variable Voltage Dual Coil (1.5ohm) Kit :: Age verification - Freedom Smoke USA

the higher the mAH, the longer the battery will run before needing a recharge. Typically it is about 1 hour per 100 mAh. I have a couple 750's that last all day on one unit. If you are a heavy smoker, having 2 batteries will more than get you through the day, charge one as you use the other.

A friend of mine started with a Volt 2. He let me try it with candy cane from pink spot and it really hit the spot LOL. Lots of vapor from those little things, and good flavor from the cartos. If you need something small like a cigarette, as I did when I started, I would suggest a volt. He's had his for about 3 months now and is moving on to an ego style PV. I started with a small Red Dragon mini with auto batteries and was ready to move on in about a month and a half but if I had started with something bigger I do not think I would have been nearly as successful. I've since passed them on to friends who have passed them on as well LOL gettin' the word out there. Just from my point of view the volt was very impressive. Hope this helps and keep looking here for help, it made a world of difference in my choice of starter PV.

My point to switch to vape is simply to minimize the risk involving being a nicotine addict.

Smoking kills for sure. Vaping might kill, also. But there is about 2000 less potential killer agents with vaping. And You'll smell much better to others, for sure. Even I can testify that for You - only with a week with vape. I'd bet my coins for vape, instead for dried vegetable. And You might have a longer future with Your childrens. No guarantees, but i'd bet for it.

Hi & Welcome to ECF! Yes indeed there are a lot of choices; I would strongly suggest that you check out the suppliers you'll find recommended here on this forum. The folks who post here have purchased from these vendors and will give you a pretty good idea what to expect. Also there are sections below for positive and negative feedback about vendors that you might want to check out.

As to types/brands of e-cigs, everyone has an opinion and each style has its own advantages & disadvantages, so read all you can. It won't take as long or be nearly as complicated as it looks right now, so don't be intimidated by it. And congratulations on your choice to move from smoking to vaping - that's probably the smartest decision you've ever made. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Katz,
I like to stand up for the little guy whenever I can, cause sometimes they get EGO bullied on this forum :) I speak of the "lowly" ecig that looks like a real cig ... the Slim Batt. IF you want an ecig that resembles a real cig ... thats a totally legitimate thing to want depending on where and how you use it ... then get one ... they vape just fine thank you very much. Yes, the batteries don't last as long as fat batts ... luckily there is no law forbidding you from carrying as many extras as you need. Slim batts are inexpensive and just so you know, big or small, batteries are a consumables just like cartomizers and ejuice ... you can only recharge them so many times.
If I read it right, the blu cig starter kit is $80 ... thats pretty steep ... and while it looks like a standard 510 cartomizer system I think I read that the batteries are reverse polarity ... which if true is kinda weird.
At any rate, if you want to go with an analog lookalike, I would get some vendor recommendations off this forum and look for a 510 starter kit, or a KR808D-1 kit. Should only set you back about $35-$40 or so. I started with the KR808D-1 with 280Mah slim batts ... came with 2, bought 2 more on my first cartomizer re-order... its still what I use today. I am from Canada, and most of the kits here come with empty cartomizers, but it seems a lot of US vendor kits come with pre-filled. Regardless, I think cartomizers themselves are awesome, especially for the beginner, and getting empty ones and filling them yourself with an e-juice of your choice is the way to go for the best and most economical vaping experience. Again, lots of info and recommendations available on this forum.
Of course, if size/shape is no option ... there are lots of recommendations on which pipe bomb to buy from the EGOmaniacs :)

Oh and one other comment: I've never used the Blu but from other posts I've read, if you do decide to try them I'd suggest going with the disposables rather than the kit, and using them only as a stopgap measure until you can order & receive a decent kit of your choice (probably from a *reputable* online supplier). Also, please don't judge e-cigs based upon the performance or quality of the Blu; from what I've read there is simply no comparison. Best of luck!

Hello and welcome!
In line with others, I too, would avoid the BLU choice.

Generally speaking, cigarette-sized devices are good for the occasional puff. If that is what you are looking for, then they will be fine. They even have charging cases so you can have an extra battery with you. You can search any vendor listed here for a 510 or 808 starter kit. Many choices and many different price points.

An Elite 808 is a middle of the road device. A bit bigger than the above but a bit smaller than what I would ultimately recommend.

Personally, I'd go for a larger battery such as a Riva or E-power. They last much longer between charges. If you wanna "live a little" you can get a rather cheap variable voltage Lava Tube. Some praise it, many criticize it. You can find tons of info about it here on ECF that will help you decide one way or the other.

Again, welcome!

Hi, not to hijack Katz'z thread, but just wondering if the EGOmaniacs (I say it with Love people :) ), typically have more than the 2 batts that come with their kits? Those that haven't bought one of every thing out there that is. Do you carry both? I just ask because if you only have 2 batteries, or only one on you, and it stops working, or you drop it in the ocean or whatever, aren't you kinda hooped?

I am waiting for my eGo-W to show up. This will be my first one.
How do you like your? any tips?

I'm really happy with mine. Glad I didn't go with a fake cig style to start. I got the Mega kit, so my batts were listed at 1100mAh. I can get 2 days of vaping off of them. This is the kit I bought.

A freshly charged batt on Saturday morning lasted me until late Sunday night. So I started today with a freshly charged batt & a full clearomizer (1.5+ ml) I'll fill it again before I go to bed.

I'm not a "chain vaper" by any means... I only go through about 2ml of 36mg/ml nic juice. I haven't really had a craving since I started.

Oh, I noticed that higher PG to VG ratio wicks better in the clearos (70/30 works really well). Also, remove the 'shell' before trying to install or remove the clearomizer. You can pull the tube off the base if you're too "vigorous". They've lasted me a month so far. I use one for the mint/menthol flavors, and I use the other for lemon/lime flavors.
