Hi,

Just started vaping last week. My wife and I decided that it was time to quit smoking and I bought a cheap disposable e-cig from a gas station to try it out. It tasted terrible and did not work well at all. I figured there had to be something better out there. After tons of searching and getting very confused and frustrated at the amount of info that is on the interwebs, I found this forum which led to me finding a local gift shop that sells eGo stuff and decided to go talk to them. Long story short, I ended up buying a starter kit from them that came with 2 eGo-T batteries, 4 Echo-E cartomizers and a USB charger for $55. My wife and I both got one. So far so good, for me anyway. She is not tolerating the juice very well so we are trying to find alternatives, but I have not had a cigarette since Fri Jan 13. I really like the setup I bought but I am now on the hunt for more e-juice options. Now on to my questions.

1. Batteries: How long can I expect them to last? Do they last a week, a month, 6 months? Are they like other re-chargeable batteries in the sense that you should run them all the way down before recharging? Are there any tips for extending the life of the batteries? Yesterday was the first time I used a battery until it died. It lasted from 5:30 AM until about 3:00 PM. I don't know if I am a heavy user or not, I have no one to compare to, but I do tend to have it in my mouth most of the time that I am at work. Does this seem like a reasonable amount of time for the battery to last?

2. Cartomizers: How do you know when a cartomizer is "done" and needs to be replaced? Will it no longer heat up and produce vapor? Can you tell when it is starting to die? What should I look for?

3. Juice: I have only tried a couple so far and I really like RY4. I also have been mixing USA mix with vanilla and that is pretty good too. I don't know the manufacturer at the moment, but they are decent. Yesterday I brought two cartomizers full of RY4 with me to work. I swear that by the end of the day I could no longer taste it. I was getting plenty of vapor out of them, just no flavor. I have read about staying hydrated so I know that wasn't the issue. Is this normal? Should I be switching up flavors throughout the day?

Not sure if this is allowed or not but the website of the local shop I bought my stuff from is usapuffnstuff.com. They own a small tea and gift shop here in Wentzville, MO that they sell their e-cig products out of. They are very nice people and were extremely helpful in getting me started on vaping. Without them, I would still be smoking Marlboros.

Looking forward to learning a ton more.

First off, Welcome to ECF and congrats!

1. I use my eGo-T about the same as you and that sounds about right for a charge. I treat them as regular rechargeable batteries and run them almost dead or until they die and then recharge them. Most of the ones that I've used and treated like this last around 8 months. BUT I also am very clumsy and drop them all the time too haha.

2. That's exactly what will happen with it. You will no longer hear the "sizzle/popping" sound when you fire it up or it will be very feint and little to no vapor. I never really noticed when it was "dying" just dead.

3. Sorry this is the one I can't answer. I use mostly menthol flavors but I do enjoy RY4 every now and then and I have never had that happen. But don't worry you'll get more answers on here haha.

Your battery has x amount of cycles. So if you charge it before it's dead, your battery will actually last longer.

Batteries last approximately 1 hour per 100 mah. So if your battery is a 750 mah, around 8 hours.

You know a cartomizer is done when the draw gets pretty tight and you don't get much flavor. They will last longer if you keep them topped off with juice and don't let them get dry and burn.

Tastes come and go when you first start. I read it takes about 10 days to regenerate taste buds. Your tastes for particular juices or that 'no flavor' feeling will change.

Hello, welcome and congratulations!!

1. Battery life will depend upon your usage, model purchased and cartomizer resistance used. No reason why you can't find a combination to last at least 5-6 hours between charges. If you are a light vaper what you have can last 8 hours.

2. Yes they usually fade and eventually you will see, hear and feel nothing when you push the button.

3. Look out for great variations in RY4. Some are soooooo different you will wonder if you purchased RY4. If you have another carto, put some in there to see if flavor returns. Read tons of posts on taste. In some cases it was the people themselves and in other cases it was their carto.

All the best!!

Thanks for all the replies. I actually did buy the kit I mentioned in my first post and it has been working great so far. Our next "vaping adventure" is to go to a local vapers group monthly gathering at a local watering hole tomorrow night. According to their facebook page there should be lots of samples and plenty of vaping veterans to bounce questions off of. We are really looking forward to that.

Thanks again,
JG

Welcome!

Tell your wife to visit Walgreen's and look behind the front register counter. She will be jumping up and down screaming full of joy! Walgreen's sell Blu Cig disposables for $10 each to try and $50 Original Kit. The disposable are available in Regular and Menthol. More flavors for the kit. I promise that she will absolutely love it. Later on, she can upgrade to Blu Cig Premium100 online direct ordering.
