Hello to everyone. I have been lurking (reading FAQs, stickys, etc.) for a few days and just registered today. Not new to forums but new to this one. I have been vaping for 7 months.

I was an analog user since age 14. Am now 46. Marlboro Red pack a day. Quit numerous times, usually for only a few weeks or months. Twice for over a year and once for 5 years. Methods used were cold turkey, patch, pills. Something always came up (stressor) where I chose to pick up again.

vaping has been my godsend to remain tobacco free. I tried it to get off analogs and then to get off nicotine. I found that I like vaping and stepping down in nic levels hasn't really worked. I like the nic.

So I am now a vaporer. I started with GreenSmoke. At first, I loved them. The taste was great, the vapor was awesome and the batteries lasted for several hours. Then the bats started declining in performance. They would get clogged, I'm assuming to dust and moisture in the air, and they were getting a burnt tast, probably due to overcharging. Finally, the cartomizers were inconsistent. Some would be great and others would start out ok then deplete quickly and others were duds from the get-go. When everything was working fine, it was economical, but I ended up spending a fortune. I will say that there customer service was excellent. Everytime I said my bat was not working, they sent me a new one. When I complained of a dud cart, they sent me new ones.

I found this forum and have read and watched other reviews. I am a real DIY guy when it comes to my other hobbies such as marine aquariums and organic gardening. With those hobbies I enterend always trying to purchase the best OEM, but then found myself going the DIY route. I am sure that is where I am headed here. However, I wanted a quick change from GreenSmoke. I decided to get a Joyetech eGo-C. Why? I am hoping for consistency, thick vapor, longer battery life, and economy. Reviews and posts have stearred me this way.

I ordered from electronicstix.com. I am a first time customer. They were very helpful. I also orderd their juice (various tobacco flavors) and BLANK BOGE 2.0 OHM LOW RESISTANCE 510 CARTOMIZERS per their suggestion as emergency backup. I also ordered my wife the standard Joye eGO because she wanted pink:p and the eGo-T or -C doesn't come in pink. I am looking forward to thier arrival.

One of the problems that I had with the GreenSmoke batteries was the constant babysitting of the charging process. One had to really watch to not overcharge or the bats would burn up. Can anyone suggest a smart charger that I can use with my eGo bats that automatically shuts off when charging is complete?

My vaping habit is heavy. I vap from the time I awake to the time I go to sleep. I continually vap and there is not much lag time between puffs. I like long, full drags. I need a unit that will keep up with me.

I would also welcome any suggestions on how best to use, maintain and enjoy my two new eGo models.

As a DIY'er, I am sure that I will get more into this. VV is looking very appealing, e.g., the Provari.

Thank you in advance for your responses and thank you all for having such a well managed and participated forum.

Welcome to the forums! I've had no problems with my eGo luckily (aside from the ego-t). I'd say make sure you dry burn occasionally to clean out your atty and make sure the batteries are dry, no juice on the threading, before you put them on the charger. Another option to a Provari is a lavatube if you're on a tighter budget. I love my lavatube and it's a great VV device, but if you're willing to put out the money a Provari would be a good VV device as well.

Welcome aboard, congrats on your success and a big pat on the back !!

I do not believe there is a "smart" charger available for the Ego. I may be wrong, and if so, someone will point you in the right direction.

Mods...i.e. Lava tube, Provari, etc. are the way to go. Especially for "smart" charging. And in my opinion, the BEST vape experience.

The ego charger you get with your kit is smart. At least smart enough to quit charging when the battery is full. My wife has three charging at all times, the light changes to blue or green when it is charged. Make sure the battery connection is dry before you screw it on. A can of cleaning duster does a real good job with a shot or two of air.

It is my understanding that when the light changes color it is only a notifier that charging is complete but juice is still flowing to the battery and overcharging will occur if left on which can cause harm to the bat. One must still be vigilant and remove it from the charger right away. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

They don't overcharge. My wife left 3 on chargers when we went on a 7 day cruise. No problem. I'm sure it's not a reccomended procedure, but no harm no foul.

I don't know much about the ego, what I do know is the batteries are expensive, and easily broken however tougher than most if not all other "custom" batteries. For yourself you might want to consider a box mod of sorts, because the batteries are your standard variety lithium and are a lot cheaper and you can purchase a smart charger for them. Some box mods also have tanks that hold quite a bit of juice(6ml) so your not consistantly filling carts. You might want to take a peek at the reo grand for yourself, or a variable voltage box so you can tailor the thickness/heat and length of hit to your preferences at will. The provari is a good choice just make sure you get the correct ohm carts/addys to give you the wattage you prefer, to avoid tripping the protection circuit. The e-power is basically the same thing as the ego with your run of the mill batteries you can get anywhere. Altho the qc on the switches has been iffy lately. You def need to look at tanks if u vape all day it takes lots of the hassle out of chain vaping. Madvapes has one for like 12 bucks so they aren't expensive.
