So it no longer has stuff going back to the beginning?
Perhaps this is a wording issue. The thing to my knowledge has been around almost as long as vaping. Before vaping was even a word. I remember the term being bandied about as a possible descriptor. It may have even been invented here. This means their data file is massive. So massive it could have problems just because it’s big and some of the data was created so long ago that it will in a few years reach the point that it’s been around longer than the lives of some of its members. There may be fairly subtle cruft that needs poking through. There may for instance be onion and hairball issues. There have likely been a LOT of updates. And more than one complete rewrite.
I remember visiting a forum once called .................. that HAD to be newer than this site. Why? Because it was called ................... it may no longer even exist. This site amongst other things is a living and searchable history of all the .... big tobacco has pulled since they first noticed it. That imho alone is incredibly valuable. One example amongst many:
That big tobacco may have known about beforehand and possibly even orchestrated that CDC thing is here in the form of a demand and claim that they would destroy all vaping if not catered to. previous to it. People died. Companies died too, but people died. It would probably take a research librarian to dig it out but I know it happened because I was there (or rather here). Which without that record along with $5 will get you a cup of coffee at starbuck’s. I thought it was absurd when I saw it. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Makes me want to take all the data from the site, load it into chatGPT, and see if it could find it. ChatGPT and AI didn’t exist back then. I don’t even really know how that stuff works (which is likely immediately clear from my statement to anyone that does)

The only thing that was updated on ECF was the actual forum software (Xenforo). The old version was no longer supported.

The vast majority of the threads/posts from prior to the upgrade is still here.

The admins decided to delete some sub-forums (per Classy).

Some data was merged into other subs.

The upgrade, from my perspective, is a major improvement.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Currently interested in an item but the poster doesn’t have any rating.
The rating system you see has no value anymore. ECF did away with it years ago but never removed the rating info from accounts so you see a lot of 0 ratings even if the user is a good seller/buyer. They have a 0 because they never sold anything until after the rating system was nixed.

The alternative is the Classifieds Feedback subforum. You go there and and do a thread search.

- Put the seller's username in the search keyword box
- change the "Everywhere" dropdown box to "This forum"
- Leave the "member" box empty.

If anyone bothered to leave any feedback for that user, it will popup in the search results. Not a 100% good way to know you will have a good experience with a particular person, but it's better than nothing. I've had a couple bad (or at lest less-than-acceptable) experiences with folks that have lots of positive feedback. That's just life, that's people. You'll never change that.

So all the rules of buying stuff P2P from online or offline classifieds apply here. No difference.
