There is powered and there is firing. The mod is powered as long as there are batteries in it and it is turned on. It only fires when you hit the fire button. When you do this it sends power to the 510 to which your atomizer (with its coil inside it) is connected. It would make sense that firing the mod would lock the temp, because after the atomizer heats up, it can’t do ambient temperature any more.
