The variable watt (VW) Vamo with batteries and charger will run about $72 or less.

i never even looked at the vamo, the store i got my zmax from didnt have any so i didnt get the chance to compare them.
i chose the zmax over the tesla mainly because it felt more substantial in my hand.the tesla reminded me of the chrome parts in a model car kit. i wouldnt mind a BAM,but it was more money than i had at the time(140-160$ plus batteries)

A mechanical mod with a Kick is a VW. Just like the Vamo. Minus the pretty display. My crown gives me Ohms and on the fly adjustability (VV/VW.) A Mech will outlast an electrical. I actually have found my Mech more reliable in pure mechanical mode. A mechanical will keep working when an electrical quits due to low battery voltage (and I do know it shortens a Lithium battery's life span if you run the battery down too low.) Did I mention you could also use it as a Mech... On the other hand, a DNA-20 mod will pump out more watts then you should ever need with safety (a good option.) However, you do not have to use a Mech with low Ohm coils, and it is safer with a Kick. Your Mech needs to be Kick friendly. Intermittent connectivity is a real pain. I do see the Vamo as the more beginner friendly. Reliable in that sense, but if the person is savvy they get two mints in one.

I just want to reply because I didn't see a good answer to his question. A mech mod has no protection. The weak link in a mech is the battery. When you have a regulated device, whether its VW or VV there is usually protection to keep you safe. Even when using a kick there is some protection. Now the reason for a mech is that there is no amp limit. There is nothing that's going to cut you off and say hey this isn't safe. Most regulated devices might let you go to 14-15 watts of power. DNA 20 let's you go 20 watts. With a mech in sub ohm area you might be doing anywhere from 25-50+ watts. If you aren't completely aware of what kind of battery you have. What it's amp limits are, the ohms of the coil, and other variables, the battery can fail. If this happens it might just vent toxic gas or worse case scenario you have a pipe bomb in front of your face. This is why you should not move into mechs until you understand what you are doing. A 45 watt vape is very enjoyable but until you are willing to do some research and are comfortable with building coils of a certain ohm consistently, stick to regulated devices. Much more safe and very satisfying as well.

I'm kinda wanting to get a really high end mod, for not so much of a high end price. Looking for something that will work really good with an RBA, both in high ohm and low ohm, maybe even sub-ohm, and also still work well with something like a protank. At this point it looks like its a toss up between a DNA20 mod of some sort, and a mechanical with a kick. Anyone have any suggestions?

High end mod for low end price? Sign me up! Sounds like the dictionary definition of a clone/replica.:2cool::vapor:
