That would make more sense than anything else, and you are probably right. I don't have a drill press so I did them with a hand drill. They look straight to these 52yr old eyes.

When I use my hand drill, I kinda move the bit around in circles once it pops the hole open. Just in case it did go in sideways, I guess I clean that up a bit? I haven't bumped into a loud whistle yet.

It really is a HUGE difference.
Don't thank me.. Thank this community!

Thanks Reoville! I somehow thought I need to keep the coil low by the deck to decrease TH. But since having the cyclone AFC I keep having trouble with getting the vape I love with coil close to the deck. It's good but now great. I just move my coil up a little above the air hole and it's much better immediately! A lot more vapor production easier draw.

Thanks OP for posting this thread. Thanks Reoville for all the help/tips!

To get rid of the whistle. If you have a dremel use the cone shaped attachment. Give the outside of the air hole a little bevel. No more whistle. Might as well take care of any burrs on the inside as well.

Sent from my Reo Grand 3.0

I don't have a dremel, so I used a drill bit about 4 sizes larger and turned it by hand enough to chamfer the hole. It didn't take much effort at all.

Interesting, on the rm2 I've always had my coil pretty much smack dab in the middle of my drilled out 1/16 airhole, but I run my wick so it just peeks out from the edges of the coil, they don't reach to the deck because squonking liquid height level is enough to soak the wick get 2-3 pulls then resquonk. So I assume with this method simply make tails longer to touch deck, and after squonking wait a min to let wick saturate because if the coil is above airhole you'd get some spillage squonking too high especially when atty is hot so liquid thins.....

I'll have to give this a shot, I've pretty much retired the rm2 for cyclone with dual coils and AFC cap, but I intrigued enough to pull the rm2 back out!
