Hi!

I've recently purchased my first starter kit, the Evod 2 Glass, but the supplied 1.5 ohm coils burn way too hot for of and make it totally unvapeable.

I wouldn't have thought that the alternative 1.8's would make much difference which is where I'm looking for some further advice regarding tanks which accept coils of 2.2-2.5 ohms.

For some reason modern tanks appear to me to be designed for only low resistance coils, and the only viable alternative I've been able to find so far is the Protank 2. Are there any other suggestions for me to look at out there?

Many thanks,

Malc

I'd suggest something like the Kanger AeroTank or Aspire Nautilus BVC.
These have adjustable airflow which will go along way to cooling down your vape- there is a balance though because if you make the draw to "airy" you head (coil and wick) will not get enough juice, causing dry hits. You can buy the AeroTank AFC section (air flow control) separately and use it on other tanks, though I'm not sure which tanks those are any more. You can find the AeroTank/Nautilus BVC for around $30, so I would just go that route.
Also be sure to prime your coils by either adding a few drops of juice directly to it, or doing a few unpowered puffs - where you take a few short powerful draws on the tank to pull juice into the head.

Additionally the ProTank2 was a great little tank, but I think you would be happier with something like the Aero Tank. I had a Pro Tank 2 mini for several months and it was a great performer for me with the 1.8 heads - warm, but not too hot. The EVOD v1s (I havent tried the v2s) has a much more restrictive pull (tighter draw) so they did put out a warmer vape than the Pro Tank 2s.

Hey mate! Just to save you a bunch of cash instead of new tanks, etc., check out:

clonecores . com

I've used the older single-coil style with great success. The guy basically cloned 'em and is having them made to his specs and then selling them via ebay and there. At 10 for $10 for 2.4ohm exposed-wick dual-coil, you'll want the protank 3/aerotank ones. They've gotten good reviews from myself, grimm, etc., but do your homework.

Yeah, the Aerotank really does look an interesting option and with some pretty good reviews too and now most definitely on the radar. I had looked at the Nautilus but even with the airflow I'm not too inclined to go with the low ohm coils.

The 1.8 will make a difference, But the 2.0-2.5 coils would be better for you, by the sound of it. These coils are available for your atomizer, same as those used on the PT3 and Aero and Gene. I would suggest you might be happier with one of the newer style clearos than the evod.

Are you sure these will fit? I only ask as when I was scouting around for HR coils for the Glass I drew a blank after 1.8

Believe it or not, they even still make tanks to put them in.

Also, you may want to look into a regulated mod with a buck circuit. A buck circuit regulates the power DOWN so you can go lower than what the battery is currently outputting (batteries usually come off the charger at 4.2v). An MVP 20w or MVP v3 comes highly recommended and would pair great with that aero tank. When new members come asking about what gear to start with I usually suggest this as it will allow you to customize your vape and wont cost too much more than what an ego starter kit costs. 20w is MORE than enough for most clearomizers. iStick is another highly recommended product on here.
Since you already have the egos, I'd agree with TJ's signature and try to perfect what you have... if you do decide to upgrade your battery the aero will be a good performer on the larger battery. When I upgraded from egos to a 15w device my little ProTank2minis performed alot better than they did on the egos (I had a Vision Spinner and a JoyeTech eGo-T upgrade that was fixed at like 3.7v with an "unregulated" mode that dumped battery power from 4.2v to about 3.5v).

    Here's the MVP 20w for $40

When you say too hot, do you mean temperature? Or does it hit too hard? If the hits are too strong, lower the nicotine in your juice. If you're actually getting a hot vape, then i would try another style of tank. Maybe even pick up a Kanger T3S just to experiment and see how that feels. They're really cheap (like $5), and they give a "cool" vape.

Hmmm, it kinda looks has though my battery may not be up to the job with the Aero?.... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...t-enough-voltage-my-aerotank-clearomizer.html

I'm totally new to vaping and all I want is a very simple starter kit to see if its for me, hence my purchase of the Evod Glass. However, the vape temp is way too hot for me and is literally unuseable which is why I'm looking for an alternative tank to go with my pair of 650mah, 3.7v batteries.

At this stage I'm not looking at buying sets of VV batteries, building my own coils etc. I'm really not concerned about vapour production, throat hit is a bit of a so-so: all I want is to try an alternative nicotine delivery system - vaping - to see if I can get along with it. If I do, well the above is most likely to follow.

Hi Sizzers. Your Evod glass is a dual-coil atty, which means it consists of two 3Ω coils configured in parallel and needs much more voltage (wattage) than a 1.5Ω single coil atty. What voltage were you using with your 1.5 dual coils? I usually like my DC atties at 10-12 watts (3.8-4.4 volts) or so. They are not low resistance at all.

This explanation to me reads like the evod would be putting out a cool vapor with an anemic hit. From the OPs description this is not what sounds like they are experiencing.

Good Job doing your research first :) Sorry for the bad recommendation :(
Maybe try a single coil atty like the pro tank 2 mini. This should provide a cooler vape as it has an airier draw than the EVODs do (speaking from my experience with the evod v1s). If I remember correctly they ship with 2 different resistance of heads (1.8 and 2.2ohm I think), that will allow you to try a lower and a higher resistance head to see which you prefer.
Here's one for around $7: Find the Kangertech Mini Protank 2 Glassomizer Online Here - Viper Vape
Your dual coil heads are not compatible with the PT2, these are what you need: Kanger/Hypertank BCC Series (F) - Viper Vape Inc
Again, I think you would find vaping a more viable alternative with a bit more power (MVP), but it is your money :) I had a very satisfying vape on the ProTank1 Mini/Evod v1/ProTank2 mini, but I was coming from Blu Cigalikes!
Lower resistance coils should give you less ramp up time and a warmer vape. Higher resistances will take longer to heat and produce a cooler vape. Personally I like a cooler vape, and used the 1.8ohm heads.
