I've always thought the reason critical thinking wasn't taught in school was because then the kiddies would have too many uncomfortable questions for their teachers.

lol .......the worst thing is that you might even be right....we can't have a generation of people growing up thinking for themselves and asking questions.

The sad thing is that there are still millions of very 'intelligent' people convinced bottled water is better ......it's no wonder it isn't hard to program someone to be a suicide bomber.
I only drink booze and gatorade, but tap water here has a lot of flouride and chlorine

It's a sweet nasty that burns your eyes, so it's not complete BS
but I don't like water even if it's mixed with scotch

That joke has been around for a while

snopes.com: Dihydrogen Monoxide

I do love P&T though, and as always they do a masterful job of it.

I remember this. It was pre-1997.
I remember it circulating my chemistry class in 95-96.

This is too funny:lol:. Can't believe it's still doing the rounds.

I actually used this 8 years ago in an Internet Use class for High School students as an exercise in background verification of internet publications. At first view 90% of the class was ready to ban right now, after I had them research 3 independent sources they were so embarrassed I don't think they ever accepted anything published on the web at face value again.

LOL - sounds like a good plan!!

I'm not sure what the regulations on bottled/tap water are in the States, but I remember reading a while ago that the maximum allowable concentrations of things like fluoride in bottled water (in the UK) is actually higher than what is allowed in our tap water, so I guess tap water is still the drink of choice.

Fluoride was actually originally a byproduct of aluminium production and they had so much of the stuff kicking about that some genius eventually discovered its other properties commonly associated with oral hygiene... there are those conspiracists out there who also believe that the addition of fluoride to our water is a mind control technique used by governments to keep us all happily oblivious to their constant f&%k ups! 8-o

The fall of the Roman empire was believed to be down to the fact that they used lead pipes to carry their water which then reacted with their drinking water and sent them all loopy!!

Enough water facts for one day.... my Grandpa used to work for the water works so has told me loads of interesting stories!! Having seen the finer details of the tap water preparation processes, he now only drinks bottled water... apparently tap water in the London area is recycled around 7 times!! 8-o
