Threw out the real cigs (analogs :)) couple of days ago for the first time ever. After 15 years of 1/2 to 1 pack per day, for the first time managed to stay away from them for these couple of days, quite easily in fact... Now toward end of day 3, and suddenly extreme urges to go and buy cigs. Good thing I threw mine away or I would have smoked for sure.
So what's going on here - why the major urges now?
Changed juice a few hours ago, seemed to help a bit.
Used to smoke (till couple of days ago) Marlboro lights, now vaping 12 mg, 11 mg, and 8 mg juices.
Should I have started at higher nic levels?
All advice would be much appreciated.

I smoked menthol lights, also about a pack a day, for 35 years until a month and a half ago when I quit cold turkey. I started out with 18mg juice and haven't had any issues. I actually have no desire what so ever to go back to analogs. Maybe a higher nic juice would take that edge off your feeling right now. Good luck and stick with it!

Trying a higher nic juice will probably help.

But something to keep in mind: smoking a few more analogs isn't the end of the world. In fact, it may make you realize just how much more you like vaping if it's been a few days. The important thing is to realize just how many analogs you HAVEN'T smoked sicne you started vaping; who cares about how many you have smoked? :D

Load up on the higher nic and do exactly what you did when you smoked. The urges stick with you for a while, they are odd but present pretty far out from your quit date.

Make it a point to quit, remind yourself that's your goal.

Make it a paycheck to paycheck thing and reward yourself with the equivalent cost in vape gear as you would get in smokes.

If you have bad moments, don't worry. Just keep that goal in mind. Some folks keep 18 or 24mg/ml on hand to catch that nic buzz, it helps curb that want to smoke feeling.

I was a over 30 year 2 pack a day smoker and started with 24mg nic then after 3 days dropped to 18mg nic which is where I am right now.
You may have just started a bit low on the amount of nic which for some will cause urges to smoke and feelings of being anxious for some as well.

I would suggest getting some 18mg nic just to have on hand for those moments and always remember it usually takes longer for the nic to get into your system through vaping versus smoking.
Hope you can continue to fight the urge :)

Go a little higher on the nic. When I started vaping I still smoked and vaped for about 3 weeks. But each day it was less smoking & more vaping. Then one day I just quit completely and didn't really realize it. Some people quit cold turkey when they start vaping, others don't. Do what is easiest for you. Good luck & VAPE ON:vapor:

What worked for me is actually picking up a stinky and actually smoking it after a few days. Realized how horrible they tasted and only took a few puffs. I did this on purpose for a few days to get my head around the habit that had been formed for so many years.

If you do, big deal, as someone said above. It's the ones that you haven't smoked that count more!

Hang in there!

I've heard that it's the three's that get ya. That's when the cigs rear their ugly little heads and say "What about meeeeee?!?"

3 Days
3 Weeks
3 Months

I can't wait to get to that 3 year!

It does help to know this in advance so you can kind of prepare yourself for this. Just know that it will pass. Vape a little stronger nic, change up flavors and drink water to help flush the cigs from your system.

Come here and vent, ask questions....whatever. There is a great support system behind all this text. :)

great advice.... you may be getting the first of the withdrawals...for the first 2 weeks everyone i knew that started vaping had a dull headache and the urge to make that quit.. i later learned about WTA info here Whole Tobacco Alkaloids (WTA e-Liquid) FAQ | VapeliciousVapelicious not suggesting you buy their products but i think this has something to do with withdrawal symptoms even while vaping. hang in there and get some liquid based on these if you think it will help.

i'm sure if you asked and were close enough one of us would come over and help you through it ... keep posting. <*}}}>{

i started on and still vape 24 mg juice. i smoked 25 to 30 smokes a day till 16 days ago. 3 or 4 good clouds off the ego and my urge to smoke is completely satisfied.

in fact, honestly i dont think a cigarette would even give me a good enough fix now if i did wanna go back.the big clouds of vaper i find more satisfying then a cig ever was.

ie; get yourself a bottle of smoke flavoured 24 mgs. i use export A 24 mg.i let my smoker friends try and they choke harder on my vaperizer lol. ive heard them say ' too strong for me ' LOL

I was a 1 PAD Marlboro Lights smoker, too (25 years) and started with 11 and 12 mg liquids, but found that I would occasionally need something stronger. I first tried 24 mg for really hard cravings, but discovered I work better by using 12 for 2-3 hours, switching to 18 for about an hour, and then going back down to 12. Since I'm already doing the up and down, I never really get a strong craving at any one time. Maybe a similar schedule would work for you?

Regardless, as they say, its not about how many you smoke--it's how many you don't. Everyone says the first week is the worst--I'm sure you can get there (along with me...). Maybe hold out a burnie as celebration for your one week anniversary?

I agree, get some higher nic. If you can, have some different nic level juices so you can mix it up or down to find your sweet spot. I had different times of the day that the cravings would be biting my behind (morning, after meals)...just had to chain vape thru them. I found that the cravings that used to take 1-2 cigarettes took 45 minutes of vaping to cure. Good luck.

I smoked way more than you orchidtoo for way more years. I'm at about 80 hours past tobacco with the vaping, but I started and continue on 18 mg strength. Maybe that's the difference, but although I have urges here and there, I just grab my pen and have a puff and I'm alright. I'm really thinking this is by far the best way to kick tobacco to the curb. Best of luck kicking the habit and come back here often, everyone is fantastic!

Can't buy their product. Went belly-up about a year ago after taking customer's money and not delivering.

The good thing is that you've had enough success to know that vaping can work. I felt the same way the first few days when I started. I was a very heavy smoker for years and years, and started with 18 mg. It worked, but barely. I had vague anxious feelings that were very unpleasant, although I resisted smoking.

I got some 24 mg. and was very comfortable in a matter of hours. I still am, and haven't smoked for over 3 months using the 24 mg.

I think the advice to bump up your nic. mg. is good advice.

Hi I smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years.I am on day 7 no cravings. Some advice, you need a much higher nicotine right now. I'm vaping 24 MG nicotine and it keeps the cravings completely away. You can always lower the level later on when you get past the hump. I don't think I could have made it on the low nicotine amount that your vaping. I'm thinking this is why your getting the cravings. Go down to your nearest vape or smoke shop and grab a 24 juice and you should be all set. Then vape as much as you want. Where ever you smoked , vape instead. When you want a smoke, vape. With the higher nicotine you will be comfortable. I can honestly say I haven't had any smoke cravings. It's a miracle for me! I hope this helps. I'm new too but this has got me to day 7 comfortably so I think it will help!
