ssd's are used for extra storage for saving important data for when/if the power goes out unexpectedly. The computer your daughter linked in more along the lines to use as a server type of device that can have several computers linked to it to share programs and such for smaller computers that may need that additional room on their own computers.

I made a small donation. I'm not afraid or too dumb to care but I used my credit card. It's protected against fraud if someone got it.

The HP computer she sent the link for looks nice if you are willing to spend that much. I'm not sure why it's got an extra 16gb ssd.
"scared" is not the term I would use, more like preventive would fit better. Am I scared, maybe, but I have had too many cc cards hit and yes, while the cc company has always reimbursed me, it also takes time and requires filling out paper work, the mail time between you and the cc company and the wait until they 'determine' if it really is fraud or not and filing the fraud report for the police and then they may issue you another cc. That can take up to 3 weeks. Then you have the fact that a lot of undesirables now have your name, and possibly a dob and address, which can lead to worse offenses. I also run my own business and really cannot afford the time, effort and worry of going through this mess. Not to mention that it then limits me in making needed purchases that help run my business So I take precautions as best as I can to avoid all of that. I search for an alternative and found a bank that offers what is called safe shop or shop safe. It is where you can instantly have a sum of money put on a temp card for a 1 time purchases to an online vendor to buy whatever. No one ever sees what your true cc numbers are they only see the temp once use card numbers. The service is free and I love it. Other online shopping is done through paypal. Just recently, more cc companies are allowing the locking of a card for use. If I want to use that card for anything I just unlock it, make my purchase and lock it again. Usually use this for going out to Walmart, Sams, or the grocery store.

I was also one of the 3 million peeps who had their personal info compromised when the gov got hacked a few years ago, so they offered and I took their lifetime monitoring for id/cc protection.

This is just my personal reasoning and I know it does not apply to everyone but keeping down the fraud from happening in the first place can also prevent interest fees(if you have any- I personally do not) from always increasing or fees associated with cc costs from increasing. That is only one way the cc companies try to make up for all the loss they have through fraud.

Sorry, did not mean to write a book. LOL

I didn’t mean anything against you. I’ve had a card or two compromised before and have a new one in less than a week. I know it’s better to not take a chance but I refuse to live my life being afraid. I’ve had my debit card hit before and never use it online. My bank caught it right away and had a card to me in two days. There are so many ways now for someone to get your card information and not just online. Thieves have come up with a million ways to steal. A lock just keeps an honest person honest. If someone wants something bad enough they’ll find a way to get it. I understand you’re being cautious and that’s great. I try a little myself but probably am not cautious enough.

No worries, I did not take it to me personally, but I also want to say that I don't live my life afraid either, that's not living if you do. But as I grow older I do find myself being more cautious than when I was young and dumb. LOL (Just a saying I have --not meant to imply anything to anyone).

I also didn't mention that I want a bigger monitor.Easier on the old eye balls.
Those are reasonable at Best Buy. I think maybe you did mention it along with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have a 25" that I got from them on sale for somewhere between $100-$125. Cannot remember exactly. And ask to make sure if it has a hdmi cable to go with it.(It should be included). If not I would keep looking as those can get expensive in themselves.

I will see if there is one similar at best buy to the one I have just to show you.

I wouldn’t call myself young but semi young and plenty dumb or foolish. Trust me, I’ve made some pretty good mistakes over the years. I tend to take some risks that maybe I shouldn’t. It has paid off on my 401k but not as much on stocks.
