Good morning. I got home last night and the sensors for the garage door had quit working after my wife washed the garage floor. They probably got wet somehow. It's always something.

I bet the sensors will be fine once they dry.
oh...and BTW, the newly painted hardware makes your cabinets look just like new. They don't need to be re-stained at all :grin:

well, the original builders for my addition backed out. I wanted to go with a smaller, local person that i knew, but he doesn't have the capital to satisfy the bank, and I'm not well-enough off to do this without external financing. which would be fine, had he told me earlier, rather than at the time the designer showed up to gather info for a bid. The builder had confirmed earlier in the morning, then referred me to a partner, then neither showed, when i texted my first guy he said he'd handed it off, and the second guy confirmed with the designer the he wasn't gonna be involved either.
it's probably a good thing - if they can't provide financials to the bank, then i probably can't afford to work with them. It's a bummer. I wanted to support a friend, and he and his partner are both vapers.
On the bright side, i did get the design bid, and the designer has builders. I'll get another design bid as well.

Sorry about the troubles CES but in the end it'll probably be for the best. Projects like that can really run you through the ringer.
I took apart the receiver sensor for the garage opener and checked it. I had 12.5v coming into the sensor but it wasn't powering up. If it got wet then it was dry by the time I checked it. I pulled the little circuit board out of it and checked the diodes and they checked good but I don't have a transistor tester at home so assume that one or more of those had failed. I went to Home Depot last night and just bought a new set of sensors and got them installed in just a few minutes. Back up and running and waiting for the next thing to break.

Darn it. Oh well. The new ones are a lot nicer than the ones that came with my Genie opener. Much easier to connect the wires.
Yeah, well the ones I left were new ones when I got new garage openers about 3 years ago and left the older sensors in place as they were still working. OK headed to the Y.
