I got to work this morning and our new health insurance information was on my desk. I hate this time of year. Our deductible went up and my portion of the premium went up another $13 a week. Our health insurance, being with a small company, has never been great but this is getting ridiculous. We are staying with the same company but the coverage is a little worse and more expensive.

It doesn't make sense to me either. The entire healthcare/insurance system is a mess. Every two years my boss goes out for bids for a new plan. Almost every time it gets worse. We only have eight people on the insurance so it's hard to negotiate a good rate even though we use an insurance broker. I wish there was something we could do about it. I have to have insurance and since my wife doesn't/can't work then I really don't have a choice. However, once the kids get their own it will go down.

Our open enrollment meeting is tomorrow. It's almost always a rate hike and a benefit reduction. I think we have had at least a half dozen providers in the 20+ yrs we've been there and our company has a couple hundred employees. The rate hike usually kills any raises we get. Some years the rate goes up more than the raises so you start the new year bringing home less every week.

I’m on salary plus commission so there is no raise to offset the insurance increases the past couple years.

We get performance reviews every year that several members of senior management from multiple departments have a say in. It's always baffled me why the head of customer service or finance has input into the raise of someone who runs extruders or moves raw materials around the building. A good raise is 3% if the company made money that year and you haven't offended someone you only see in the cafeteria twice a year. [emoji15]

Good Morning. Sorry to hear that FC. I can tell you we keep both Private Spanish health Insurance and free Public health Insurance. The care I get from the public is good but you have to get used to it. Overall we definitely prefer the Private Doctors/Facilities, cost here for Private insurance is cheap. Public healthcare is free for us and medication is covered 90%. Its a trade-off.
