Back to work again. My neighbor behind me put in a water drain system since he was having problems getting water in his basement. I don't really like him much but he came over yesterday while I was outside and asked for my advice on a sprinkler he broke. The people that lived there before had put in a sprinkler system but he hasn't used it in the few years he's lived there and evidently hit one of the heads with his mower. He had it dug out and the flex line was sticking up. He wanted to know how to cap it so I made a suggestion. He commented how wet the back of my yard was and said it might be because of his new drain. I didn't mention it to him but my neighbor next door that the drain hits his yard first and then flows down to mine, has called the city to complain. I'm not sure but I don't think you can put the outlet of a drain closer than five feet from the property line and his runs almost all the way to the property line. I would say within a foot. I asked him about his basement leak and he said he had a crack in one wall. Instead of spending the money on the drain, he should have spent it on foundation repair. When summer hits and he has little or no water hitting around his foundation then it could dry the ground enough for the foundation to crack more.
