I need to ask a question of some others that have used Dekang liquid-- I hope there are some of you here ~
I am using Dekang tobacco and always have for the past 4 years-- but my husband and I both
have hives for the past month-- wondering if this has happened to other
with recent Dekang batches ? There is nothing else that I can come up with that would cause two people to have the same symptoms at the same time unless there was something new & harmful in the liquid.

First you will probably get some slack from some posting because its dekang, just wanted to warn you.

Have you tried using a different liquid? Does the same thing happen without dekang juice? Have you checked other environmental issues? I know ny had a bad issue with bed bugs when I was there last and they can appear to be a rash or hives when bitten. Worst part is they have no preference to clean or dirty environments, and can spread very easily from anywhere you have been to your home. Not saying it is but until you can rule out that its only occurring with the juice in question, there may be another issue at hand.

The hives started for both of us as a few pencil eraser size itchy spots - over the past two weeks there are more and they are larger.

It could also be eczema, triggered by an allergic reaction to something.

There are so many different kinds of contact dermatitus as well as systemic skin ailments, reallly have a dermatologist look at it.

I thought I had poision Ivy, then a PA diagnosed shingles, finally saw a dermatology specialist and it was neither of those things LOL

Hey mate! What the others said, but I wanted to add a few notes:

1. Buy some benadryl/antihistamines over the counter as soon as you can and keep them around. The reason is that allergies are an immune response, and it can start small and then increase as you're exposed to whatever is doing it. e.g., you might get mild reactions for a bit, which then become worse (itching around the scalp, hives) and then the next time suddenly your airway is closing up. When this happens, an antihistamine right away can buy you time until you get to the hospital.

2. It could well be a weird batch, but you can find that out by switching to a different brand for a bit. It's unlikely you'd both be developing PG/VG/specific-flavoring sensitivity at the same time, unless you and your husband share a ridiculous amount of genetic material. Since you aren't from Arkansas we can say it's unlikely.

3. Pay attention to the environmental factors that were brought up, even if it seems unlikely and you can't think of anything as it could be *anything*. A washing machine not rinsing right, new detergent, acute/chronic urtcaria, elevated liver enzymes from over-consumption of alcohol, radon gas, mold exposure, natural gas leak, erythema ab igne (usually a space heater), skin infection, etc.

4. You're going to look up bed bugs and you should, but be warned your life will never be the same.

Are you sure you ordered the right or same version this time?

DK liquids come in two versions: 80VG/20PG or 80PG/20VG. Either version runs pretty much to the extremes of being 80 VG or 80 PG. If you have an allergy issue with either PG or VG, switching the ratio around to that degree could really be a problem.

But it is a bit coincidental that both of you would be having the exact same allergic reaction. Don't forget to look at other things you use in common as well: soaps, shampoos, lotions, foods etc. Changed any of the household goods lately?

Regardless, if you think it's hives that's a symptom of a pretty bad allergic reaction - have either of you been checked out by an MD?
