Dusty, I tried it a while ago, but my emails for ECF notifications and Paypal were different. It's fixed now. But hmmm I didn't know the admins on here were secretly harvesting identities for "The Man", according to VIVAP2.

Verification happens through Paypal or another one or two ways. Where does big brother watching enter the scenario?! It's basically a way of legitimizing your claim when you buy a product and not do an about face and dupe somebody by not paying.

Perhaps you can shed some light on your statement?

Makes no sense, maybe if you wanted to sell becoming verified matters, but as a buyer, you just pay. verified or not makes no difference.

Chell, please don't take this the wrong way, but I do believe it would matter depending on what you are selling e.g a GGTS sold a couple days ago on the classifieds with all it's fancy accompaniments for around $600 or $650US. Would you not, as the seller want to know that the buyer was verified and somehow accountable for his money?! Or, from the other side, as the buyer, would you not want to know somehow that the seller is good for his product?

I'm doing my best not to stir the pot here, but I do see the importance of what this process is doing. For somebody that does not delve into the classifieds, it's probably completely useless though.

If they're buying from me I don't ship it until they've paid me, plain and simple. I don't need any verification process, I just want their money lol. As for me buying, well, if I was going to drop that much on something I would use other ways to verify the buyer because in my opinion going through the ECF verification process doesn't really mean much. I look at how long they've been on the forums, post count and content, friends and/or groups they belong to. If they look sketchy in any way, I don't buy.

Don't worry, you're not stirring the pot. Just different opinions is all

If you have a bank account it is easy to set up (i mean after all i made a account, how hard can it be LOL)

I think if you have ebay you can do it that way

I don't go to the classified anymore since they changed it, I find its like a clusterf@ck, and becoming verified for buying is ridiculous imo. I bought like 4 mods off of the classified and everyone required to have money before shipping, to which i gladly approved because it made sense. Not once have I been screwed over, and there was no possibility for me to screw over seller since they had my money in hand before shipping...

That's just my 2 cents, but i think the forums owners are becoming to "parent-ish" for my taste. Oversight on who buys and sells shouldn't be the admins responsibility since they have neither the items or the cash in hands.

Well, keep in mind some people weren't so lucky in the Classifieds' previous iteration (have a look at the old Negative Feedback section in the Buying and Selling subforum), and it only takes a few bad apples to tarnish the whole thing. I think this is just for a little extra protection.
