I just got my kayfun (tobeco clone) in, built a 1.8 ohm microcoil with cotton.

At first I was kinda enjoying it, but something was off. Then I rewicked and destroyed my coil. SO I figured that I used too much cotton. Built another coil, it was exactly the same.

Next time round I used alittle less. But still too much... weird taste again. Rewicked, less cotton and OH MY GOODNESS! This thing is shining now!

It is amazing how great of a vape this is!
Im not getting amazing vapor (its on my Vamo v5 at 7.5-8.0 watts) but the flavor is great!

I have been waiting to bump up that wattage to make sure the coil is broken in. I'd hate to screw it up.

What suggestions would anyone have to maybe get some more vapor out of this pig? :)

The bad taste is mainly the wick. My Kayfun's I recoil and wick then before I use them. They send them with the wicks coming out the bottom of the chimney piece and they burn the wick because they can not get enough juice. when they can not get enough juice they leak.

Yeah its wicking perfectly now!
Mine didn't come pre-wicked, but I knew their supplied wicks (in the bag) weren't something I wanted to mess with. I always had the wick correctly placed. I just used too much and it chocked at the coil.

Always toss the factory coil.
Always strip and clean a new Kayfun - Fully strip
Cotton - less is more:)
Coils - If built right 2-3 Pulses to check and adjust and they are good to go. No Break-in needed

Chain Vaping - if very low, may cause enough heat to start leaking out the air hole. Let cool Blow clear, refill and enjoy.

I now have 8 and all have a place in rotation. :D

Hahaha 8?!?! I wanna be you when I grow up!

Im going to try some wattage tests to see how well everything is going.
The vapor im getting now is fine, but I want "OH .... WHAT WAS THAT?" (minus a few clouds here or there... Im not a choo-choo train)

Loving mine as well. I thought the flavor increase coming from clearos to cartotanks was big. Holy smokes this is another league all together. Had one for a week and have a second on the way. I've been doing 1.5-1.7 and am going to try 1.0 next. I just use organic cotton for the wick.

Yeah the flavor is pretty outrageous! It makes me never wanna use anything else!
p.s. Love the King of the Hill (boomhower) avatar!

I have 6 clones, all from different manufacturers. Delighted with all of them now. (Two of them took a little tweaking to get them working right.)

Yeah, I super satisfied with my clone! :)

Nice to hear things are working out so well for you. I got an Hcigar 3.1 a couple weeks ago with an ehpro kfl+ on the way. Regular tanks seem so mild at this point, kinda like moving from iClear16 to aerotanks. Still working on fine-tuning my wicks, but appreciate all the suggestions.

Yeah, I am still working on getting everything just right, but still im very impressed with how it works on my second/third try!

After messing with mine for quite a while, it's now working great, and I'm getting thick clouds. Don't have any advise, I'm using mine on a mech so about 3.7 volts on a 1.8 ohm coil. At first when I was getting little to no vapor it was because I didn't have enough cotton (was told less is more, and it didn't get me anywhere).

I love my kayfun 3.1 clone! it is very amazing. I don't use it much right now because I put a high dose nicotine liquid in it so when I use it I tend to shake for a while, but I got some 12 mg liquid coming and going to fill it with that next.

Yeah, high nic will do that too ya! hahaha

Very interesting.
Do you have a micro coil? Also hows the flavor?

Yes on the micro - 30ga Kanthal, 7 wraps (I think - I have no idea what the diameter is on the mini screwdriver that I use to wrap it on, though). Flavor is great - some of my juices that are unvapeable in a clearo are much better in the Kayfun. Not as intense as the clearos but not muted either, but more balanced.

Very interesting! I have been planning on trying some different cotton setups. how do you have your wicks flow through?

About 1/8" diameter of cotton off a roll, ends sit about to the bottom of the channel. Disclaimer - this is as much cotton as I used on my first build attempt and did not have issues with vapor but with leaking. This is when I was told I had too much cotton. After 3 more attempts, one with less cotton (when I couldn't get any vapor), I took it to a B&M and watched while the guy rewicked and filled it. He used the same amt of cotton as I did the first time, but this time I didn't have any leaking and vapor was great. I've been refilling it now with no issues, so I think my problem was the filling technique and not the wicking at all. We shall see when it's time to rewick. :p

Hahaha, did you fill from the top instead of the fill hole?
