Okay fairly new to the kayfun world and mech mods. Picked up a Hcigar Nemesis and and Hcigar Kayfun 3.1 Plus with airflow adj.
Being a fisherman with excellent knot tying techniques mastering the coil build was a non issue, they always turn out nice. I have tried the Ehpro and Tobeco clones and the air draw on both where too tight and there was not enough adjustment range for my liking. I picked up the Hcigar Kayfun 3.1 plus clone and it's amazing, the airflow is huge on this thing and turning the screw in you can adjust it to a tight draw if that's your preference. Ease of use, top filling, draw, nice threads and hassle free use on the Hcigar are top notch and I sold the Ehpro and Tobeco which in my opinion sucked.
The kayfuns go through 2x the juice compared to my Kanger Aero Tanks but the vaper density, warmth, and flavor is amazing. I have one built at 1.4 ohm and the other built at 1.7 ohms.
I found on the 1.4 ohm I was getting dry hits. If I left the unit sitting with out vaping it for awhile and took a long drag off it I would get it. If I was vaping on it consistently it seemed to run fine then out of the blue another dry it.
Took it apart, replaced the cotton, tried again, checked cotton, channels, etc same results. None of this happening on the other one built at 1.7.
I tightened the airflow adjustment screw and it appears to be working perfectly now. So my question or thoughts, when building the coil lower it appears to be more sensitive to getting dry hits or burning the wick. Is there a relation to the airflow draw, too loose a draw just pulls too much air and dry's the wick or perhaps does not create enough of a vacuum draw in the tank to pull juice up the channels to the wick?
Running a higher coil 1.7-2.0 perhaps less prone to being dry hitting?
All opinions and thoughts appreciated.
