Holy Smokes Batman what a difference a year made!!

I was at one point a very experienced vaper. Started on Blus, moved to an Ego, then a VV spinner and protank, on to the MVP, vamo, a mech mod and rda's, then to an Ileaf 30W when I fell off the wagon and went back to full time analogs. I never did find vaping fully satisfying unless it was sub-ohmming with the mechs, and I hated building my own coils. I'm a busy mom, and I always had a fear of accidentally overlooking some important part and winding up blowing my face off by accident. Then a few weeks ago, I was going to stay at a friend's house where I'd have to go outside to smoke, all my old gear wasn't working anymore, except for the trusty old vision spinner so I took it and stopped on my way for some juice at the B&M. Didn't go back to really look around until last week though, and after much online research, bought a Kanger Subvod yesterday and then bought a joyetech AIO as a backup (it was on sale and supa cheap!!) at another b&m while out of town today. I don't like the AIO quite as much as the Kanger, but THIS is what I have been searching for my entire vaping experience. I can finally actually taste what I'm vaping, I'm not coughing up a lung from it drying my throat out on contact, and I've actually made it two whole days without even missing a real cigarette unlike my past history with vaping. It's astounding to see just how much improved the process has gotten in just a year. Now if the government would just .... out. I think I can actually quit smoking successfully this time around.

I was just thinking this today. Do new vapers still begin with ego/joyetech 510, etc anymore or arethey just jumping right in and starting with box mods now?

I hardly ever see new members post about egos or "should I use an automatic or button battery"
I think starting cheap can be good psychology. I started with a $20 vape pen. It was not going to be the final solution but with so little invested there was no pressure. The device did reduce my daily cigs 80% from the start which proved vaping could work so after a few days I bought a more expensive N mini and Spinner 2 with full confidence I was on to something. A cautious start can be a confidence builder.

Perfecting my vape took a year but that included waiting for TC to be reasonably priced and having the confidence to rebuild and do DIY.

Yep! The FDA has pushed many of us out of our blister pack comfort zone! But I can now build my own coils and am getting in gear to DIY!
I'm really glad you found your way back to the forum Ali.
I started rebuilding at 6 months and never bought another coil head after that. It took a year to start DIY because I was afraind, incorrectly, that it would be a hastle. The first batch was a success. I never bought another bottle of premix. Getting those two things working pretty much garranteed smoking is permanently over. Rewicking twice a week improves the experience. I would never replace coil heads that often. I'm totally spoiled by being able to fine tune my liquid. Premix is like fast food now. An odd thing about vaping, the less you spend the better it gets.

Wow. To the OP; I am a new vaper and use the exact same 2 builds. Only difference is I am changing to a 1.0 ohm coil on the AIO, to see if I can get it to run cooler.

Let me know how that works for you. I find the AIO a little warm myself

I'm glad I went back in to see what was available now. I could work with vv/vw, but it wasn't great for me. I couldn't taste the old style ce4's on evod batteries, vv/vw was better but still not quite enough, & I loved vaping once I learned to build sub ohm coils, but being as busy as I am and as scatterbrained, it always scared me and I inevitably would go back to smoking. I'm glad the technology got advanced as it did before the FDA stalled things, the subtanks and AIO's are going to make a world of difference between an okay substitute and a truly great experience for a lot of people I think.
