Hi there I'm completely new to the vaping scene but am very intrigued in it all!

Rather than going ahead and buying my first e-cig to give it a try i decided to build my own completely from odd bits and bobs from the shed and around the house, i love to tinker and thought it would be a great little project, after doing some research and looking through a lot of pages and forums (a lot of time looking at some amazing pieces of kit on here) :hubba: , i realized that they are fairly simple unless its a VV - might have to make one of em too some day!

Here is what i come up with, using an old torch body with 18650 battery, RCA connector, and some metal tubing.
i had to cut my own plugs and carved the grooves for o-rings and does not leak one bit! holds around 8ml of juice.

The mouth piece is from some old pathetic cigars i had but works perfectly for now, at first i found it to be a bit harsh on the throat even though I'm using 0 nic but after opening the breather hole a little more i think its just right.

As long as building my own i decided to make my own liquid so i popped down to boots for some glycerin £1.20 for 250ml and bought some PG of Ebay along with some 32 awg kanthal and until today bought a sheet of 400 mesh SS, i couldn't get much vapor using 100% cotton but now I'm getting decent clouds with really good flavor (juicy jay drops blueberry)

I've also made a smaller version using 12g shotgun cartridge :pand an old e-cig carto my friend didn't want.

thanks for looking

yes I'm definitely hooked already :vapor:, there's nothing wrong with making things look good but most of the time i just care about performance and this isn't bad at all! will definitely be making another soon, i have a micro lathe so will have to craft something new once i buy some new bits for it

Now I'm envious. Micro lathe, dang thats about the only tool that I dont have, that I wish I did.

What piece of metal did you find to block the tube? I'm talking the part the wick actually sticks through and has the voltage screws on it.

I've been trying to make my own of something similar... That is the one piece I haven't been able to find/figure out!

hi there lastlokean, it was just a small aluminium washer i had which was already a perfect fit however, it is sitting on top of another thicker plastic (chopping board) washer that i cut to size and then had a groove cut for an o-ring to sit in and seal, i will post a picture of the insides shortly!

I don't think its a complete bodge at all! Looks quite symmetrical, sleek and functional!

Thanks much for the inside photo shots! I think it will help me out in my future endeavors. I've been having the hardest time finding a decent selection of washers at my local stores! I think my biggest issue is I only look at the stainless steel parts because aluminum and zinc scare me...

Thats okay i hope it helps! i completely agree i wouldnt recommend using alu at all stainless is definitely the best, i wont be using this much and ive already planned on making another one.

I would also recommend if you are going to use a copper center post to tin it with solder so the metal does not leach into the juice.

Damn I'm impressed. My first mod was just a nicostick and I had a photo tutorial

thank you mate, i have started making my new one and although again not the best of quality ( a bad craftsman always blames his tools ) but cheapo lathe bits and a bad ability to re sharpen drill bits isn't dandy :( but I've started to create my own new genisis with a battery tube made by me as well all I'm waiting for is a good sized switch to fit, need to go to Maplins! oh and i also need to lathe me a mouth piece, i should have taken pictures along the way but completely forgot :/ will post some of the finished item soon though!

Edit: broken pillar drill belt doesn't help much either!!
