Tornadoes.

thoughts and prayers going out. We were under a tornado watch all day here in AR.

"Saturday evening, a "large and extremely dangerous" tornado was reported near Glenn Heights, TX, south of Dallas, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters called the situation "life-threatening" and said that mobile homes "will be destroyed." They also predicted "considerable damage to homes" and "complete destruction is possible."

Ditto to all those in Alabama and Mississippi from the storms on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! :(

I live in Garland and it's been a nail biting even watching the weather man all evening. Passed close enough to hear warning sirens in the distance but local ones never went off. News looks like it's a real mess nearby tho. Praying for my neighbors.

Glad you checked in FR, and that you are safe.

I understand the damage in Garland is signficant.

From what I understand there were several death from vehicles tossed off the freeway here. The big time damage was further east and north of here tho. According to local news. The city of Rockwall got HAMMERED!:(

Are you sure it was rockwall and not Rowlett?

Just saw this on Rockwall FB site last 1/2 hour: "Here in Rockwall we are alright. The tornado just missed us, it hit across the lake in Rowlett. Lot of devastation and lives lost."

I don't know the proximity of Rowlett to Rockwall.

I live in the far western corner of AR, we get all the bad weather and tornadoes that come in from OK. Kinda scared about tomorrow, but today, despite being under a tornado watch all day long everything stayed somewhat to the west of us.....so far.

Yes I meant Rowlett. Sorry, after hours of watching storm tracking it all runs together. Just learned this morning it was the far SE corner of Garland that got hit. I'm in the far NW corner of the city.

Well right a I spent 45 minutes under my desk between 3:30am and 4:45am......my weather radio alarms went off with a tornado WARNING, not a watch, so that means they spotted rotation. It was about 10 miles away coming this way. The cell weakened thank goodness.

I hate these kind of nights.

Glad it fizzled out for you.

T for Texas!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for our part of Texas. I'm from Rowlett (and born/raised in Garland) and the city is in shock, a close family friend of ours lost their home, completely blown down but they are all safe!!

The community is very strong and there is an outpouring of help from both inside and outside the city. Right now the city is asking that everyone who can to stay home so that streets, etc. stay clear for authorized emergency crews (red cross, police/fire, etc.). Our church didn't even have services this morning, which is unheard of, to keep people out of area.

Right now we are under flash flood warnings. Please pray for all the emergency crews and those without homes to go to!

Its hard because everyone wants to help out but that is a good problem to have during this time.

Thanks again all.

One of the guys that works for me, his father-in-law lost everything he owned, but got out before it hit. He lives... or rather lived in some apartments off I-30 and Zion. I lived 3 buildings over about 10 years ago myself. Here's a pic of what's left of his place.
