can someone explain carto-tanks to me? im looking for a good glass replacement for protanks (hating them!) and seems like all other clearos use the same attys....so I find myself venturing out into the world of cartomizers, which I know nothing about. litterally nothing. was kindof looking at the texas tough tanks since they arent supposed to crack?? but again wth do I know lol.
any education would be greatly appreciated. thx so much!

Hi Amy. Another Cincinnati vaper here! :thumb:

Read this blog about juice attachments, paying particular attention to the parts about cartomizers and cartotanks: Proper Terminology: Is it a carto, a tank, or what?

Then read this blog on how to set up a cartotank: Baditude's Cartotank Setup Guide

My recommendation is to get an IBTanked pyrex cartotank. A little more money, but it will be well spent and be a long term investment. The pyrex glass is very durable, but replacement glass (should you break it) is very affordable from the manufacturer. You can learn about them in this blog: IBTanked cartotanks - Review

How a pre-punched carto works in a tank: With each drag on the carto that is in a tank, the suction created pulls juice from the tank thru the pre-punched holes in the carto to replenish the juice that was vaporized.

Cartotanks are available at IBTanked in three tank lengths: halfling, standard, and extra long. The appropriate length cartomizer must be used for whatever tank length you choose.

Tank diameters are available in 15, 19, 22, and 25 mm to fit the size battery that you are using. For instance, the 15 or 19 mm diameter look best on an eGo battery.

ok I think I get it.... so instead of an atty on a cartotank the carto is the heating element.....and that is the part you need a few holes in. from what I read on your links looks like you prefer a single coil and, 2 to 3 holes for thicker juices. I vape virgin vapers organic 100%vg but its thinned to the same consistency as 50/50.....or at least its very very very close to it. do I have it right?

Well - you INITIALLY fill them both. You need to get a NEW cart "primed" (soaked, basically - read Baditudes' instructions), but once it's IN the tank, you just refill the tank over and over. The cart refills itself by "pulling" juice in those holes. Until it stops working well - then you start over with a new carto.

Cartos will last longer than your Protank coils, but they are disposables.

I think that's a misunderstanding.
General consensus is that cartotanks will provide better flavor than clearomizers (like Protanks), but get beat (for flavor) by Rebuildables - including dripping atomizers (no tank), Sofia/Diver (a permanent carto you re-coil) or Kayfun/Russian type devices (tank on top of a coil/wick you re-do yourself).

thanks, I did read them, guess ill just have to reread until it all sinks in lol. saw another post on a diff thread that cartotanks dont get as good of flavor as regular tanks...opinions/fixes?
