Hot and little vapor?

I got my Joye 510 a few days ago and so far it's been a little disappointing. I filled it like the manual said: 3 drops in the atty and 3 sets of 5, separated by a minute, in the cart. When I draw on it, it's hot and burns the back of my throat and I get less vapor than I did with my cheap gas station ecig. It also leaks between the cart and atty.

Is there anything I can do to fix any of these problems?

Hi Tyler, welcome to ECF! If you have a atty/cartridge setup, there is often a priming liquid on the atomizer from manufacture. The first 3 to 5 puffs, you shouldn't really inhale. It won't hurt you, but tastes awful. It also doesn't make much vapor.

If it's leaking as you mentioned, keep wiping it off with a paper towel, and see if it settles down and works better. The 'number of drops' will vary according to how thick your liquid is, you may need to adjust it down a few.

Stick with it!

Hi

Pretty much the same suggestions. These are easy mistakes to make at first and easy to fix.

First, as nanovapr said, any new attys have a "primer" liquid in them. It's not pleasant to vape and your instructions should have told you to blow that out first.

Second, if you have liquid leaking out at the 510 connector end - yeah, too much liquid. Here's what to do.

Remove the atty and clean up any liquid on the connections on both the battery and the atty. I know you mentioned a manual battery. Excess liquid like that will kill an auto battery if it manages to get into the battery electronics. It's far less of a concern with manual batteries because there is no vent hole in them as with autos.

Clean up your atty. Take it off and remove the cart. Get a piece of paper towel, folded over several times, and hold that loosely over the cartridge end. Blow blow blow into the 510 connector end until it appears that liquid is no longer seeping onto the paper towel. This will remove both the primer and the excess liquid in there right now. No need to add more liquid since blowing out won't remove everything.

The general rule about cartridges is you want the filler to be saturated, soggy looking, but you don't want to see a puddle of liquid at the top. Sticking a small straightened paper clip down between the cartridge and filler and working things around a bit helps to evenly distribute the liquid through the filler. In other words - poke it with a stick.

Reassemble and give it another shot. And, of course, please report in and ask any more questions if needed.
