Hello everyone. I am starting to have some problems with my Joye 510... One problem is that my atomizers are getting hot. The second problem is that I am having to top off my carts A LOT. :(

I just put in a brand-new atomizer and a full cart...took the first draw and the atomizer started getting hot, and I got liquid through the mouthpiece. This was using a "pre-filled" cart, not self-filled...and it wasn't overfilled. Also noticed that my vapor and throat hits aren't consistent.

I purchased it through E-Smokey Treats, and it has a manual switch.

Would I get longer battery life and longer lasting carts with a 901? Also, does the 901 have a "stouter" atomizer?

The only time I've gotten liquid in my mouth with a 510 is when (i) I've overfilled the cartridge, (ii) I'm vaping on a low battery, or (iii) I'm sucking too hard and/or too fast.

But, yes, as Mamu notes, the atomizers get hot . . . very hot. I find that I can't "chain vape" with my 510. I need to put it down every once in awhile to let it rest and cool down. :)

The 510 is also a liquid monster. Typically, models that produce lots of vapor tend to use a fair amount of liquid.

In comparison to a 901, the 510 cart holds more liquid than the 901, and I think its cartridge lasts longer then the 901 (yes, even though the 510 uses more liquid than the 901).

As for the battery life of the models, that's hard to say. For me personally, my 510 has the shortest battery life of any of my models (including the 401 and the 901). That's because I don't take short puffs from my 510--I ride the button so that my puffs are much longer, resulting in a shorter battery life--maybe an hour, an hour and a half for the 510.

I'm not sure what you mean when you ask whether the 901 has a "stouter" atomizer.

Mamu. I think I will try that upgrade- if I can find where to get bulk coffee stirrers. By the way, this trouble is with the 901 carts I am using on my 510, like you suggested. I get more vapor and better throat hit with the 901 cart than I do with the regular 310 cart.

Plus, I can get blank 901 carts a lot cheaper than blank 510 carts.

It doesn't matter which cart type you have 901, 510, 801, etc, the cart mod works for any cart.

For coffee stirrers - just hop down to your local 7-11 type store and pick up a couple of those. You don't want a coffee stirrer that is too big though.

When I first read the post all I had was some of those hollow tube q-tips. That works too.

Good luck Dee!

Thanks Mamu...one thing I noticed- I am using my passthrough right now, and I put a regular 510 cart on...and I am getting much more vapor than before, and the atty isn't getting as hot. I also believe that I am starting to learn how to draw on it, which is causing improvement.

Another thing that I noticed, is the cart I was using when I had the problems was slightly defective. It was a standard 510 cart, but the end of the mouthpiece was pushed in considerably....totally different from a regular cart. I wonder if this was pushing the filler into the atomizer more, causing overheating and/or leaking?

One thing I wanted to ask you....I know you are purchasing empty 901 carts- are you making your own mixes, or just buying flavored juices and cutting withPG/VG? Are you putting new filler in them, or just disposing of the used and putting on a new one?

I have to admit, that for the first time in 2 days now, I am getting a craving for an analog. Don't know if I am not vaping enough...or that my 18mg juice is too weak. I am afraid of getting anything stronger, because my hits now are "harsh" and burn my throat. It may be the PG, but I am not sure.

your gonna have alalog cravings for about a month or two after switching to vaping. there are alot more addictive substances in analogs than just nicotine. but the vaping will make quitting as easy as its going to get to quit analogs. hang in there and youll make it.
btw i dont recommend switching to a higher mg of nicotine. 18 is a good start.

The analog cravings come and go. You just got to work it out and try not to get frustrated. I definitely had my moments that first month. :)

I buy my 901 blank carts from ruyandirect.com. They're only 17 cents a cart so I just toss them after a couple of days of use.

I also buy my liquid there or at eastmall.net. I LUV eastmall's spearmint - YUM!!

I really don't fool around with mixing too much - did at first though.

But I do like my menthol and posted this menthol drops recipe a couple of days ago. At times I like to add a few drops of menthol to my Hilton flavor and that gives me a taste really close to the menthol lights 100s ciggies I used to smoke.

Menthol Drops Recipe for Menthol Lovers

Sounds like you haven't found a flavor that suits you if it's too harsh or else the nic strength is too high for you. Even if you're not a menthol fan, a drop or two of menthol in the juice smooths out the flavor.

Or else you're getting that "burned" atty taste. That is indeed nasty and harsh. If that's the case, make sure you're using a fresh cart that's fully loaded with juice. You could be using a cart that the fibers got a little burned and that will be nasty. If that's the case, remove the filler and run water through it and squeeze the excess water out by rolling the fiber on a paper towel. Then pop in the cart and refill with liquid.

The 510 burns hotter and thus will go through the liquid faster. Make sure you keep the cart loaded with juice and maybe a drop or two of liquid dripped in the atty. Don't flood the atty though - you'll lose the throat hit.

Hope this helps- Hang in there!

I think it might be the nic strength....I have only tried 2 flavors- chocolate and vanilla, and BOTH are causing my throat to be a little "scratchy". Both are 18mg PG....could also be the PG. I guess I need to try some 18mg VG flavor, and see if that stops it...if it doesn't, I might need to cut down to 8-12 mg. nic

Vaping does tend to make your mouth and throat really, really dry, so try drinking lots and lots of water or other preferred hydrating liquid. See if that helps you any. :)
