Hey all,

I have an authentic Mirandus that I'm having a hot button issue with right now. I'm not sure what the issue is. Problem persists whether I use the included spring or magnets (both were recently replaced with an authentic replacements from Circle of mod) and I've tried heavy cleaning, evening polishing. I've cleaned all of the threads contacts with alcohol, polished them with Cape Cod clothes, no results. Tried letting the mod sit in rubbing alcohol overnight on multiple occasions, used a tooth brush on small threads, etc. and I cannot get the hot button to stop.

The only thought that I've had is that I used to use Noalox on the mod until I found out about No Ox ID A Special. The Noalox did get gritty and leave some residue on my mods threads, but I've worked pretty hard to get all of that out even though some light staining is still visible. I doubt that's the problem but It's worth mentioning.

I've tried resistances of .15-.35. Previously resistances this low haven't been an issue on this mod. I'm not having the issue with my other mods and multiple atties on the Mirandus, same problem. I use Sony VCT4s and the LG 18650 2500mahs, issue occurs with both batteries.

I'm not new to rebuilding or mechs, but I'm hoping that somebody can point out something that I may have looked over???? This is my favorite mod that I own, and I'm getting incredibly frustrated.

Isn't Cape Cod non-abrasive? Did you see any residue during polishing? When I clean my mods, if my rag isn't turning green/black then it's not good enough. Mother's Mag polish is the most aggressive I've used and makes quick work of it.

I feel your pain with my Private V2 with recurring hot-button problems, but since it's a $20 clone, it's much less painful. I don't do authentics for this reason, which allows me to afford true, worthy craftsmanship from the likes of Spyderco. :2cool:

It is relatively non-abrasive, but the cloth definitely gets pretty dark with a little bit of elbow grease.

It's definitely frustrating to have clones sitting around that are performing better than this, but I think it's probably something I've done, no fault of the manufacturer. My best guess right now is that it's dirty inside the little threads on the button where the bottom contact screws in, but I've tried cleaning them with a toothbrush, wirebrush, etc and nothing seems to work. I ordered a new bottom contact that I'll try out, I may have to order a whole new button. Lets hope not.
