Like most people I take advantage of all the routine sales, I get the e-mails every couple of days so rarely is their not a sale going on. Yet over the last few months I've noticed that my monthly orders have jumped about $40 more then usual. The first time this happened I thought a mistake was made applying the discount. Then realized it's because sale discounts are not given on "Hot Items" because they already have small discounts attached to them.
Problem is half the liquids I use are ALWAYS marked as hot items from month to month for awhile now. And it makes a huge price difference on my orders. For example my wife uses nothing but WoW peppermint, Normally at 12.50 a bottle I would take advantage of a sale price, let's say 35% (although occasionally the awesome 40% off sale) that makes it on average $8.12 a bottle. But instead because no discount is given, it's 11.25 a bottle that's a difference of $3.13 a bottle.
As I usually place one large order at a time this really adds up. I've been ordering every month for over 2 years now and I have to admit because of this V4L is starting to feel like less of a deal. I would think the vast majority of your customers already use the sale promo since they are fairly regular and constant, so I don't even see a real purpose to have the "hot item" prices. And since they are usually attached to more popular liquids, it's starting to feel like it's being done intentionally to not give discounts on the popular products.
