Hey all,

Fairly new to vaping and I'm not sure if this is normal. I keep getting black streaks in the cotton, forcing me to replace cotton >1x/day..

I'm running a FT Veritas clone (the 22mm, SS one) on a MVP 20W w/ a single horizontal coil at 19 W. I kept/keep getting blackening cotton fairly often and thought to check it w/o the cap. The top leg, connecting to the top screw, kept glowing, but it had a ton of kinks in it, so I made a new coil. (1.6 ohm microcoil [d=1.8mm]. Overshot by one wrap. Pics below) The connections for this one seem very tight and the screw/nut seem, well, shiny/clean. Still glowing.

The first cotton lasted for over a day, but now they're all getting those pesky streaks of black w/in a few hours. W/o the cap, the top leg starts glowing after a second pulse (2-3 s each). The segment of coil in question doesn't touch the cotton. W/r/t the black streak, I've also noticed that it seems particularly bad after vaping a mix w/ a FA cocoa/coffee extract I made, but it seems to happen regardless of juice (Though most all of the juices I have have FA cocoa in it. I'm also starting to question whether or not that may speed it up. Still,) I don't think that the leg should be glowing red after on a second pulse (or at all). Any advice?

Oh- Also, when I pulse the coil w/o cotton, it initially glows from the outside-in, but eventually glows evenly and cools inside-out after cleaned. KGD cotton fit snugly when re-wicked.
