I have no experience with LiPo's or their chargers, but judging from the picture of their charger, it might pose a problem:

Ah do you think? I have never looked at any external RC/Lipo chargers. Do you think it will not be able to connect well to some?

However I already bought a 30cm JST-XH balance charger extension cable (that I thought to use with my self-built dna 200, but haven't yet), so I think I can use this to help if necessary

dont want to be a party crasher: We are 100% sure it has an authentic DNA200 in it? Because it is written D-N-A in some places.

0% chance its not an authentic chip, they clone stuff fast but not that fast, and not a chip that complicated.

Interesting device though, already have a homebrew 200, or else this would be on my "keep an on eye on it" list.

Right behind you...
Phil didn't say it wasn't an authentic DNA200. He was saying that if it WAS an authentic, he'd take a look at it. And they fixed the balance charger connector. I'd be surprised if he didn't take a peek at it at this point.

I'm the poster in that FB page, by the way. :)

I have not seen this mod bundle with EU/UK plugs, so I give it a wait till they sell it.

Yeah that's a slight shame, but I will just use it with an adapter to start with - and/or fairly soon replace the wall adapter part of it (it appears to be separate, plugging into the charger with a DC round plug) with an equivalent UK one.

Still no reviews up on this unit anywhere? Get the feeling my units will be shipping from FastTech before we even see a review!

Never saw a full on profile of it yet but from this shot it almost looks like the case should be deep enough to hold a 1300mah battery but I guess they lose a lot of mm with the magnetic supports and bullet connector system mounting.

I'm just wondering if the charger is capable of both 110 and 220 (230)v. Most likely it is, but there's a chance it isn't.

I had assumed it would - it's been a long time since I remember seeing a DC converter that couldn't. Though worst case it's got a separate adapter so I can just replace that, also preventing the need for a prong converter.

If they use solely the balance port for charging that means that the lipo they use is custom made with thicker AWG wire. Normal lipo balance cables are not for charging.

Are you sure about that? I just did a quick google, and found for example this "basic 3S charger": Turnigy 12v 2-3S Basic Balance Charger

Charging is through the JST-XH balance lead on your compatible battery. Suits all Turnigy, Zippy and most other battery types.
It does say 'compatible' battery, but also suggests that most batteries can be charged this way?

So from what I can see, I don't think a custom battery is needed for charging through the JST-XH? Or at least, most available 3S batteries are suitable.

OK interesting, thanks. You won't be short of batteries when the vaping world moves en masse to Lipo :) (Though I guess many of those might not be suitable.)

This is the Lipo I bought for my home made DNA 200.

The JST-XH wires on this battery are silicone 24G - is that the same as yours, thinner than the HotCig? I can't really tell from your picture. Actually maybe mine look a little thicker than yours?

Googling is telling me that 24G silicone is regarded as safe for up to 6.5A - way more than the DNA 200 will use for charging?
