Hotspots/Shorts on Silica Wicks

Do these happen? I know they happen with SS mesh but with silica, are there still issues?

I don't know why this gets thrown around so much, but it doesn't short out. I actually prefer that my coils are so close they touch on silica and cotton.

That confuses me too, I've coiled so tight they touch and it works fine. No buld-up in between the wraps too.

It didn't on the couple I've tried. Resistance was the same at the length of kanthal and they all glowed evenly.

Also, nearly all disposable atties have touching wraps, and resistance isn't effected.
