Other than the burnt taste of a cart gone bad, how can you tell physically? With my newbie knowledge and newfound tastebuds, how else can I tell if a cart is ready to be tossed?

I am uploading this photo of a few carts. The one in the middle, the filler is squished down past the inner tube. I am guessing when the juice saturates quickly into the filler, then I should be tossed. It seems that most of the time, when I pull out the filler, the center material is burnt, and I have to end up tossing, but not the outside filler. I am not good at keeping track of how many times I vape a cart, but I have been trying to refill, before drying it out. But again, I still tend to burn the center tube.

Can't change a post title....

Susden there are ways to tell, like a discoloration on the labeling material. 99.9% of the time it occurs about half way up the Carto where a hot spot has developed. The best way to tell is if you go to fill or top off and juice instantly floods into the air tube. As you have probably noticed by pulling out the polyfill, many times it seem okay but the wicking material and wick tube (the most important) are burnt.

The level of the polyfill material can vary and at times a small brown staining can occur by the top of the wick tube, but you'll find the carto is still in good shape. If you vape strong flavors like menthols it gets really hard to tell by taste, but if you vape light flavors like 555 or Grape it becomes much easier to tell.

If you have an empty juice bottle and a bunch of empty cartos that you are going to rinse out...test them first. Just fill a juice bottle with water. Add 20 drops to Wow's and 25 drops to your Cool Carts, if the air tubes flood while filling, toss them. Remember it can't flood unless there is a hole in the wick tube.

One thing you can also do to prevent burning is always top off a Carto before tossing it on a Passthrough. The 5v power of the PT will burn a dry carto in nothing flat. If you are working on the computer, vaping on your Passthrough you should be looking to top off every hour or so (a few drops). If you are hanging out and steady vaping on a battery every 2 hours or so.

Hope this helps, are you still in need of an O-Ring for your DT?

Mmc,

How do they say it in Italian? Whentheynoaworka  Actually without straying to OT, when they no longer hold a charge for hours or when they no longer take a standard time to charge. Say regularly it's 2 hours to recharge, now it's 8 hours, or they lasted 4 hours but now only last 30 minutes. I find with the VK's they either perform or they die with very little in between.

Thanks, Snow, awesome advice as usual. I will try the water in the empty juice bottle next time! I am actually close to finishing my first bottle of juice!

Ok to tell if a cart is ready to be tossed, the filler is burnt on the top, to tell if it needs to be refilled? It tastes like burnt marshmellow. I tend to refill when the flavor is gone.
