How did you reduce your nic level?

within my own thoughts....
Okay, i recently had to purchase a lower mg in my ADV juice due to my local B&M was out of the 18 and 24mg....the result for me, was soooo not good! Granted, i wasn't ready to reduce my nic level, but since i'm waiting on my online orders to arrive...i really had no choice but to buy my ADV in 6mgs. I knew that the lower you go in nic strength it would change the flavor, but not to this extreme. I couldn't even vape it due to the fact that it tasted nasty and i'm assuming it was mostly PG and VG...blahhh!!

So i was wondering how some of you have reduced your nic level without losing the flavor that you've grown to love in your ADV's? Could this be why many lean toward higher VG %'s due to it not effecting the flavor as much?

But yes, i am really needing to figure out how i will go about reducing my nic levels, without losing the flavor. So it got me curious on how others have dealt with this issue and how they resolved it? Especially for those of us that order vendor juices and haven't started doing the DIY just yet.

Well, I've heard tell that lower amounts of nicotine actually allow one to taste the juice even better, given that nicotine is said to have a peppery taste.

As for me, I started out at 18mg, and it just didn't hit the spot. I moved up to 24mg, and have been vaping it that way for more than a year and a half.

I've tried stepping back down to 18mg, but it just doesn't cut it.

For me, it's not so much about flavor as it is about throat hit and just having the general satisfied feeling I used to get when smoking.

I've had others try to tell me that I shouldn't vape at high nic levels for this long, but I don't see why not, as long as it keeps me from buying a pack of cigarettes. I smoked full flavored menthols for about 10 years.

So...to answer your question, only step down as you feel ready. I would recommend buying your liquid in higher nic levels when they are back in stock, and then just mixing them with the lower nic juice. If you mix 6mg with 24mg liquid at equal parts, that will give you 15mg of nic. Or you can mix 2 parts 24mg and 1 part 6mg for 18mg nicotine. So on and so forth.

If you still prefer your high nic after trying to step down, then just vape high nic. It's all about your specific needs.

I ordered juice with less nic in it.. Started with 20mg, after 1 month started ordering ordering juice with 2mg less, after month or so, dropped the juice order by another 2mg.... My current stock is 18 bottles, most are still 12mg, but the new stuff is all comming at 10mg. When I am down to ALL 10mg bottle I'll probably drop down to 8mg if not 6mg. Question is do I officially quit smoking (vaping) after the 6mg, of not?

I started at 12 two months ago. Dropping was a goal so as I depleted my stock of 12 I mixed some 12 and 6 to get me to 9. When all my 12 was gone and 9 was my high, I started ordering juice in 6. It was about this time I realized vape was keeping me awake, difficult to fall asleep. Someone suggested I try vaping a lower nice the hours before bed. So now I have some 9, for my morning, some 6 for the day, and 3 in the late evening. Falling asleep became easier. But the weird thing is it gave me confidence to go full tilt to 3 mg, which is easier now because I have quite a few flavors I enjoy.

I was a heavy smoker and now I vape heavily when I need too, or even want too. My vape runs pg70/30vg to pg60/40vg and I am using a Nautilus Mini on an iStick50W. Flavor just seems to be getting better for me and I haven't sub ohm'd yet. I went higher pg because pg is known as the flavor carrier for vape. Pg also helps with throat hit.

The habit of smoking, hand to mouth, something to do with the hands, has been more of a struggle to me than the nicotine at this point. My first drop was a little rough, but it gets easier, or has for me.

I dropped mine very slowly over time. I would drop my juice 2 mg every 2 to 3 months. It was so gradual I never noticed any change in flavor or withdrawal from less nicotine. I started Vaping at 20mg and now vape 2 to 3mg juice. If I vape 3mg in a sub ohm tank I can feel it very quickly. I'm at the point where I will probably go to 0mg of nic soon.

Hardware. I went from clearomizers and cartos to Kayfuns and dippers and cut my nic from twelve to six mg/ml. Now I'm happy between 3 and 6.

Becarefull with that definition of reductionN. Yes your ARE using juice with a lower concentration per ml of juice...... BUT, if you are also vaping more juice in total, then have you really reduced the amount of nicotine?

Hardware is definitely key here. Hardware and settings. I started with 18mg juice in protank 2's... Kept up the 18mg when I switched to the Kayfun Lite+, but dropped to 12mg soon after for the sole reason of eeking out more flavor. With the Kayfun V4 I'm down to 6mg. I vape at higher wattages than I ever could have managed at 18mg and have way better flavor. The guys I know who drip for flavor use 3mg or 0.
I'd say, first off adjust your settings, volts/watts, to see what 6mg can do, and be prepared to vape more to get the same feel. But after awhile you won't have to vape more and voila, you've just reduced your nic. (Though maybe not try to go from 24 to 6mg in one go, step it down).

I totally agree with this. I dropped from 12mg to 6mg and vaped like crazy.
I dropped down by using an RDA along with a tank.
I also went from 50/50 to mag vg bc I love clouds

I started vaping with 12mg eliquid. I was interested in a brand (MOV) that offered 9mg and 18mg so I went with the 9mg. When I seemed okay with 9mg I started buying 12mg and 0mg bottles from other vendors and mixing them to 9mg. Later I decided to lower my nicotine to 6mg which made it easier since the majority of juice vendors typically offer 6mg. I currently still vape 6mg eliquid and I may go down to 3mg at some point. I expect that cutting my nicotine in half from 6mg to 3mg will mean that I'll vape more for a while until I get accustomed to it.

The down side of reducing your nic is raising the amount of pg/vg you put into your system. They both dehydrate your body causing all kinds of other complications.

within my own thoughts....
a huge thank you to each of you for your input and advice!! :)

Yeah, i think i will stay at 18mg until i'm ready to reduce the Nic. But i do know when i tried a 6mg in my previous ADV, it tasted no where near what it did. So i'm assuming as you diminish the nic, the "flavorings" in the eliquid get weaker as well?!! At least it was the case of my former ADV and it really turned me off from EVER wanting to reduce my mgs due to that fact.

Guess it's a trial and error thing and all about the vape gear your using?! I do know i could only go up to 11 watts on my iTaste MVP 2.0, so i ordered a istick 20 watt in hopes that eventually i'll be able to go lower on the ohms, that is IF i decide to switch over to a Kanger subtank mini and build my own coils.

Right now, i'm using a nautilus mini and the coils can be costly....so i'll see how this new iStick does for me and just maybe i'll get that Kanger tank soon to see what it makes my ejuices taste like by powering up the watts.

Thanks again everyone!!

I have heard that many people believe 12mg is the sweet spot. Many believe this level of nicotine actually enhances the flavor just right.

There's a guy on YouTube called Phil Busardo who does a lot of video reviews and coil rebuilds. He says all the time that 12mg is the best when it comes to enhancing the flavor. Gives your flavoring a little extra kick.

Of course, your mileage may vary.
