How do I find my "control panel?"

I changed my thread notifications from email to "control panel" but can't figure out where my control panel is to view my subscribed threads, also how do I get notified that there are new posts if you do subscribed threads my control panel?

When you have logged in, at the top of the page you'll read welcome Jawnkennedy, Notifications, My Profile, Settings.
Click on Settings and there you are.

OK I see that now, but I thought there would be an option next to a thread that has new replies and when I click it, it takes me to post I haven't read yet?
