How do I make a 5kb avatar?

It looks as though I can only upload a 5kb picture. How do I even make a picture that small?
I searched the archives. . . and found nothing. Which means I must be originally stupid?

Ummm. Nevermind, look there's a tiny tiny avatar. . .
It said that it failed to upload, and that's when I tried a 50pix x 50 pix pic.
Weird. . .

My experience: disregard the file size requirement, within reason. The site's software seems to handle reasonable requests. Dimensions are another matter. I think they're enforced.

Yeah, 5kb is pretty absurd.
