How do I use an Empire Drip Shield?

I got one of these in the mail yesterday after wanting one for the longest time. I know that they are made for the 901, but i'm using 510s. It came with an adapter, which is fine, i've even got extras here at the house.

My problem is that I cannot get this to fit over a 510 atty. It's really pretty How can I get this to work?

Have you tried lubing the inside of the drip shield with a couple of drops of juice? The O-rings at the end are very tight.
