My experience with other types of rechargeable batteries was that over time, and charge cycles, the battery would gradually lose its capacity ... with a 'fully charged' battery having shorter and shorter charge time ... until the unit simply wasn't worth the effort. At that point, it was toast.

I've had a number of my PV batteries go out like a light bulb though. In fact, not one of the ones which now appear to be finished exhibited the fading I'd known from previous technologies. It's more like, one minute they're OK ... and, without warning, they're toast.

Is this typical?

I don't believe our PVs are LiPo "YET". LiIon, but I think it is probably more the micro circuitry that is at fault when they *poof*. That or shorting out at the terminal, like happened to one of my eGo batts. Alot of the LiIons dies like you'd expect, gradually. The massive failure is likely the internal circuitry. I've heard roumors of LiPos being on the horizon, but haven't heard of them being used yet for e-cigs.

OK, I must've misunderstood something I read about PVs using LiPo batteries.

According to what you say, either I've had really bad luck with their circuitry ... or, maybe I'm being too rough on them somehow. I know I've broken a couple atomizers by dropping them. Stands to reason those drops wouldn't be great for the batteries either. However, what prompted me to post was that one of my eGo batteries died today. It hadn't recently been dropped. And, the LED still lights up. But, I get nothing at the atty.

I've tried several atomizers ... nothing. The same atty's on a different battery, no problem.

Check the batt connections on the batt and the atty for debris. When my eGo batt shorted out it was due to debris in the batt connection from a mega carto that took a dump.
