Sounds like you are talking about carto/tanks here, since you mention Lava tanks. Carto tanks have a cartomizer in them. The carto has a hole punched into the side. When you first fill a tank, you fill the carto first, and then fill the tank with juice. After inserting the carto all the way into the tank you then are ready to vape. How the tanks works is by juice being sucked up from the tank into the carto via the hole in the carto. Hope this helps you. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Came back and realized I didn't fully answer your question. With a tank like this, what you need is a punched carto and the tank. I have Bella tanks, which are the same as Lava tanks. These are the easiest to fill that I've found so far. When you are needing to refill the tank, you just pop the top off and refill, then pop the top back on. Much easier than other carto tanks. The only con
that I've read about is finding the right juice consistancy with the number of holes in the carto. I use 70/30 mixed juices along with a Boge one hole punched carto and I've never had any issues. If you use more VG, you might need another hole. It's just something you have to 'fiddle' with until you find what works for you, and then you're golden.

This video demonstrates how to fill and assemble a carto or cartomizer tank. A little different from the JonBoy or Bella tanks that Kay discussed above, although these all use a cartomizer. The JonBoy and Bella tanks have rather unique large acrylic endcaps which distinguish their appearance, and are designed to be filled with juice by unscrewing the top cap. The mouth piece is actually part of the top cap in these tanks.

The usual DCT (dual coil tank- which by the way, you can put a single coil cartomizer in these, too) has two endcaps (a top and bottom one) which holds a cartomizer between them. A plastic or glass tube fits on the outside of them and together they hold the juice. Leaking of juice is prevented by having a good seal with rubber o-rings on the endcaps.

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say 501 carts. Are you talking about cartridges or cartomizers? And have you transposed the numbers? Did you mean 510 by chance? Yes, you can put 510 cartomizers on these tanks. Do you have a different threaded device? What battery are you using, and what's the threading on it? Is it 510 or 808?

With an eGo Twist, you should be fine with a Lava tank. I'd suggest starting off with prepunched cartomizers. Later, if you decide to, you can start punching your own cartomizers with a carto punch and save yourself some money. But to start, I'd suggest buying prepunched because there is a learning curve with punching your own. And you're welcome:D That's what we are all here for, to help each other.
