How does the air flow through an e-cig

It is not really relevant, but I have been wondering this for the past few days. I'm waiting on my first e-cig (510) to arrive so I have not had a chance to take a peak to figure it out. The atomizer is located in such a location that I don't see how liquid from the cartridge migrates to it.

Another question that would have some relevance is concerning the straw mod. In addition to making it easier to fill the cartridge, does this also help the overall air flow.

Liquid gets to the atomizer via the filler material in the cartridge. The filler material in the cartridge touches the bridge on the atomizer, wicking the fluid. Hope this makes sense? Once you see your 510 you will get how it works. As far as the straw mod goes - the whole purpose of this mod is that it leaves an air pocket at the bottom of the cart so air can flow freely. You will find that you can add more liquid to your cart with this mod. I also find that the flavor of the liquid is better when using the straw mod. Good luck and welcome.

Air flow is an interesting subject, and I'm looking forward to learning from the replies you hopefully get.

Yeah, I think so also. I am thinking that the filling in the cart must be self contained away from the mouth piece. This way, the airflow is not going through the filling towards your mouth.

Perhaps there are some vents in the cartridge that allow air to come in, suck up through the atomizer, and then exit through the cartridge. The only thing is, that I don't understand how the filling would not leak the e-liquid in the process.

Thanks, I'm think perhaps a coffee straw should do the job. Can't wait to get my e-cig :)

I think the 510 cartridges have vents in the side.
I think my RN4081 (NPro) cartridge is shaped such that there are gaps on the sides.
