I have an older Provari that's now out of warranty. I'd like to put my DID on it but the air hole doesn't line up like I really want it to. I know that others have punched out the top cap and pushed it back down where they wanted it.. how hard is this to do? Does it make the top cap more likely to come off later when I don't want it to? Is it worth it to do this or should I just make do and use it like it is? Is there a good youtube video showing how to do this?

I don't want to mess it up and have to send it in for repair but if it's an easy thing to do, I might try it.

I did see a video once, but I don't remember if it was on here or if I searched on You tube. In a nutshell you insert something like a long, thin screwdriver, being careful not to hit the circuit board and gently whack the end of the screwdriver with a hammer. Switch the screwdriver to the other side of the board and repeat. The top should slowly come off. Be gentle so as not to ruin the board or break wires. To reassemble, press it together in a vice or with a large c-clamp such as those used on brake calipers.

Edit: Post above is the one I saw.

I have not done it to mine yet, but I want to shim up the switch cause I am getting a lot of misfires or accessing the menu due to false hits. I can see a bit of a gap between the button on the board and the clear plastic button. I don't see any problem with doing this, as long as you take your time and don't rush it.
