Hi all,
I am looking for some insight into the expected lifespan of the new(er) ego batteries. Not the twist. Just the standard batteries.
I used to get at least 3 mos heavy use out of a couple of batteries, but when they added the new "feature" of the 5 click turn off. I am lucky to get a months use out of two batteries.
I am not techy so I really don't understand, and frankly don't want to be bothered, with testing volts/ohms etc.
I change the atomizer's regularly, or if there is any indication there might be an issue with one. I keep them clean. I did have a problem with the tanks leaking for a bit so was diligent about watching for that.
I researched the threads and read about issues regarding the center post. I had no idea they could move, is it possible, since they move, that liquid could get down in there and short out whatever is inside?

What happens with mine have varied.
Some just die. Wont' take a charge, won't fire, won't do anything.
Some start flashing repeatedly, whether there is an atomizer on them or not. (this can go on for days, flashing, stopping, then an hour later flashing again.)
Some turn on and stay on. I remove the atomizer, reset on the charger, and using a new atomizer they do it again.
Others are intermittent, or some variation of above.

If I am/was doing something to cause this, I would certainly want to know.
Frankly I prefered the old ones.

Clean the battery connector AND the charger connector every time before you charge. Joyetech batts are the best in the business but there will always be the odd poor performance unit/s that sneak in. Those bad guys that make knockoffs can sometimes fool reputable vendors and the knockoffs will keep comin' everytime somethin' new hits the streets. Hope that helps.

Ego Battery care:
Always match the charger with the correct batt
Try not to charge too often or when batt doesnt need it
Keep clean
Do not overtighten attys, cartos just snug enough to make the connection is all thats needed.
Do not leave in hot places ie cars in the summer or laying in the sun
If leakage occurs wipe and dry as soon as possible
Sticky fingers = sticky buttons
Avoid over powering or underpowering attys cartos

I have four of them which me and my girl share. We have been using ours since May and no signs of loss of life, etc. I clean it before every charge with a Q-tip and never charge them before they flash on low power. Previous posts mentioned avoiding extreme hot or cold temps and that is about all I have heard for care guidelines.

I have heard from some of the veterans where I shop and they say these are nice, rugged, reliable batteries. Expected life according to them is about a year.

Well so far I am doing everything everyone is suggesting. And my supplier is top rated, so I have total confidence I am getting the real thing.

I just noticed my batteries are Ego-C upgrades. I have no idea what that even means, but I imagine it is one more improvement I wish they hadn't made.

Anyway the last two are dead dead now. I'd really like to buy more, as the size is great for when I am out (I have a VV mod for home now). I just don't want to waste my money if there is some issue with them, or something I do that is causing this.

i've also never had one die yet (but i've *lost* quite a few of them!)...the 2 i've had the longest are about 18mos old...not only that, but i charge each one AT LEAST twice per day (i'm a severe chain-vaper), and i *constantly* use LR's and DC's on them, lol.

lots of reputable suppliers sell ego knock-offs without meaning to be under-handed about it...as the term "ego" is now generally accepted to mean any similarly sized battery...

general rule of thumb: if they don't STATE that they're GENUINE JOYE, they're probably not.

btw, i buy mine from cignot.com -- all genuine joye products, and excellent customer service.

I've been vaping for 2 1/2 years and have always used Joyetech Ego batteries. I have given many away as I order upgrades but so far, I've never had one die. I managed to hold on to one 1000 mah for a year and a half and it still works like a charm, when I use it. It has taken a back seat to my new Ego Twist batteries. I've never had a Joye atty die either. They grow weak after several months of use and I bag them up in case I ever have a need for emergency stash. I'm amazed when I see how some people go through attys and batteries and wonder how that happens. I too buy all of my batteries from Cignot, so I know beyond a doubt that they're all genuine Joye.

My egos 2 months later are doing dandy, though I cycle between 2*650, 1*1000, and 1*1000twist. The easiest way to know if it's authentic (according to Joye) is the etched logo on the bottom. If the logo isn't there it's not a Joyetech. Plenty of manufacturers on Alibaba will do custom OEM branding, it isn't too hard to scan the little graphic on the side and have it added, they don't care so long as you pay.

That said, I doubt I've been using any of them long enough to run into any of the more common issues w/batteries, so this is purely a personal experience thing.

This - absolutely. About a week ago I went out into my garage and smelled a really strange smell . .I couldn't place it but I thought maybe it was burning electric. My 650 ego (a knockoff) battery was on the charger but cool as a cucumber so I looked all around the garage . .until I finally realized what the smell was. E juice had leaked onto my battery terminal and was cooking on the charger!

Anyway - that battery is dead now. I pulled it off the charger as soon as I realized the issue - but it never fired again.

From now on - I wipe the battery everytime before I charge it.
