there are so many brands and so many variations, i had good VOLCANO Atomizer die after just 2hours ( very bad for $8 ) and i had some last for months

cartomizers are same thing but depends how clean you keep them also, and what you decide to vape inside them.

there is so much to explain that i am learning myself, but they are sorta like computers --- you can build two different computers using the SAME EXACT parts and manufactures and one will blow up first before the other.

just remember when you vape, understand what you vape, if your vaping flavors with oil or excessive colors they will leave build up on the element themselfs wich could if not cleaned regularly -- cause failure.

i am sure this applys to different USA vs CHINA liquids and the purity of the liquid itself

if your vaping good quality juice, dont let it over-heat often, and keep them cleaned --- they should last long time

hope this helps a bit -- these guys here can help more than i can even understand myself

The cartridges themselves (the plastic casings) should last forever unless you chew them up or accidentally melt them on the atomizer. The filler in the cart has a limited lifespan, especially if you vape the cart dry and end up burning it. Atomizers have a limited life, but you can extend it with proper care and cleaning. There's no real way to say how long an atomizer will last, but if you start noticing less vapor and/or funky flavors that don't get better with cleaning then it's probably time to get a new one. It's not a bad idea to have a couple of atomizers on hand at any given time.

First -
a cartridge aka cart is the plastic and stuffing piece used on an atomizer to make a 3-piece ecig with a battery
a cartomizer aka carto is disposable combined cart and atomizer to make a 2-piece ecig with a battery

atomizer - varies. You could get a dud or accidentally mistreat it and it could die quickly. You'll probably get a decent one, especially if you bought Joye or other highly regarded brand and not random brand, and if you treat it right it could last for months. Performance could go down and cleaning can often help that. But eventually because it is a heat-making part, it will degrade or die or you'll singe the wick and make it taste bad. Regardless, if you are going to use attys I think you should have at least 3. One total spare and two you can alternate (use one while cleaning one). re treat it right - don't let it get abnormally hot. If it is abnormally hot then it is not getting enough ejuice. Check the cart, adjust the stuffing, top off with more juice, swap and clean the atty if necessary (priming the new one with juice first and waiting a minute for it to soak in). And BTW push on and pull off carts - do not twist them on the atty.

cartridge - can last a long long time unless it gets stretched out from heat and repeated on/off. When the white stuffing gets old and cranky, try replacing with the precut blue foam stuffing for 510 from strictlyejucie.com (cheapest easiest way to try blue foam)

cartomizer - keep it damp and you can get days or even a week or two out of a good one. I got 4 weeks off one using it 1/2 the time so that is like 2 weeks. If you run it dry and singe it you ruin the flavor of that carto.

battery - manufacturers claim up to 300 recharges, one vendor says it is more like 150 recharges
