There are tons of different tanks. Adjustable airflow, dual coil, bottom coil, top coil, long wicks, short wicks... For the most part it's a personal preference, but some are universally better. I've heard a lot of good things about the Aspire Nautilus, whereas an evod is probably the most basic tank you can get. I guess you just gotta do a little research, happy hunting. :)

Top and bottom coil clearomizers and glassomizers (which are fancier, glass tanked clearomizers). Same again... but with dual coils. The coil head assemblies are replaceable... and many are DIY rebuildable with your own wire and wick (see wick below).

Carto tanks. A plastic or glass tank, with aluminum, plastic, SS or rubber end caps - that hold cartomizers with holes in them so juice can transfer from the tank to the carto wicking material. Single and dual coils.

RTAs. Rebuildable tank atomizers. A somewhat new designation... previously fell under the RBA umbrella. Similar to a modern glassomizer, but must be built by the user. Single and dual coil designs... wicks of ceramic, SS mesh and cable, silica, hemp, bamboo and cotton.

Genesis atomizer. A tank with a wick going up into what amounts to a variation of a RDA - rebuildable dripping atomizer. The original idea was to have an RDA with a juice supply.

All but the last, with a few exceptions, are "pressure differential" type atomizers.

Welcome to ECF!! The difference in tanks types is the way they work. There are certain categories, cartomizers, clearomizers and rebuildables and within them there are several different types and now a bunch of crossover. Everyone has a personal preference so the only way you're going to know which you like is to try them.
