How Much Juice Do You Burn Through Before Having To Clean Atties?

I use about 5ml/day and if I'm vaping something that's light colored I can get about a day and a half before needing cleaned but if it's something dark (butterscotch, coffee, etc.) then I am finding I need to clean my atomizers out about twice a day. Does this seem right? Seems like a lot of time cleaning compared to the amount being vaped. What could I do differently to get more time out of atties before needing cleaned?

Right now I'm using cartridges most of the time and dripping occasionally. I'm seeing that cleaning is necessary more often if I'm dripping a lot, I would think it should be the other way around.

Anyone have suggestions for what I could do to get more time outta my atomizers before needing to clean?

I was using a 901-T kit but yesterday I got my eGo and with either one it is looking like things are about the same as far as this issue is concerned.

EDIT: BTW...I didn't mention what's happening that calls for cleaning. They are getting kind of a burnt taste...not clogging, but getting a swampy burned taste. It's difficult to describe, but not like the burnt taste when you run one dry. It's more of a burnt water taste (if that makes any sense).

Are you using 100% PG, VG or a mixture of the 2?

I find that if I am using something with a high VG content (more than 30%) I go through attys quicker since it is a thicker liquid and it gunks everything up, I use either 100% PG or a mix of no more than 20% VG and find that I'm good for a week (I have monday nights as PV attention night to clean and service everything)

Honestly, I'm not sure. So far I've been just buying from the closest smoke shop because it's convenient and quick but there's no label on any of the juice and no one at the shop seems to be very knowledgeable about the subject. The girl I've mostly dealt with there smokes e-cigs but she uses one of the cig look-a-likes with their cartos so she really doesn't know much about any of the other equipment or juice or anything.

Yesterday I ordered my own nic juice (60mg) and PG/VG so in a couple days I will know exactly what I'm vaping but right now I just have no idea. I will say though that the juice doesn't seem really thick or anything....of course with this being the only juice I've used I have no basis for comparison. Hopefully I will be getting more time in between cleanings once I start making my own.

I love to drip and I have found that a few things affect how much cleaning is needed. One is the darker caramel and vanilla juices get clogged a little quicker. The time I run into the most problems is over filling and it seems to clog if not cleaned out right away. when you let it sit over night also. For the water burning taste it has to be the juice mix and the amount or portions. I clean my attys once a week and it has worked great for me, the one with darker juice sometimes an extra cleaning but not often. Good luck!

What do you mean "when you let it sit overnight"? What should I be doing at night time? I read somewhere that it's no good to let an atomizer dry out and that it should be kept wet all the time so I've been making sure to drop a drop or two in before bed...maybe this is causing some of the issue?!

How do you store your setup overnight? Rinse it out? Burn it out? What?

When you are making and using your own DIY juice, keep a carefull note of the PG/VG ratio while you are getting to grips with it then you'll be able to compare.

Ya...I'm not good with arithmetic so I installed a good e-liquid calculator on my tablet for mixing. I plan to keep a good journal of each mix to find what's working well and what's not so much. Thanks for the advice.

Not neccessary to put drops in before bed, I use a 510 atty and only drip, rarely clean out atty's, I just blow it out from top thru bottom ( drip tip end to battery end ) every couple of days. No problems, the one I'm using now is 3 weeks old. I vape till it tastes a bit off then ad 3 drops, to vape again or put it down for a bit if I've had enough. When I start a new 510, I, Blow it out, ad 6 drops vape till it tastes off, from then on in 3 drops max get 12 to 15 good puffs, currentley using an Ego T batt. will be using a Reo Grand when my batteries arrive. Test your atomizer with a multi meter, maybe your resistance is to low or your battery isn't delivering enough voltage to burn off all e-juice ????

An atomizer should be kept wet when you are using it, otherwise you'll get that nasty burnt taste.
:)

And also if you're hitting it hard when it is too dry, you probably increase the rate at which gunk builds up on the coil.
My guess is that is where the nasty burnt taste is coming from.

But when not in use an atomizer doesn't really need to be kept wet.
And blowing it out every night certainly doesn't hurt, although I stopped bothering with that quite a few months ago.
