So... if I buy a prefilled cartridge that is 18mg strength nicotine... how much of that am I getting at a time... is it 18mg per cigarette's amount of vaping, which they say is like 10-15 inhales... or is it 18mg in the whole cartridge... and same question for the liquid...

I tend to vape more often than I smoked... since I can do it inside and since it doesn't make me feel like total crud when I do... never understood why I smoked... I'd get that yucky lightheaded feeling and slight nausea almost every cigarette... 18 years of that... and yet I still did it... well, bygones nonetheless... but now I worry... I don't want to accidentally ingest a toxic amount of nicotine >.< Just want to know for sure... they say 40-60mg is a toxic dose, I believe? If I'm getting 18grams per cigarette's amount... if I lose track and vape alittle too much, I don't wanna toxify myself

Thanks in advance :D

Cannot be computed by anyone but you. If depends on your ecig, the size of your mouth, the size of your drags. And most people do not vape 15 drags. Many vape more often than they smoked and for fewer drags.

Vape from one bottle for several days and see how much it does down each day. if you use a 5ml bottle it will be easy to see if it goes down 1ml or 1.5 or 2 each day.

if you get headache, lightheaded or rapid or irregular heartbeat, then you are getting too much nic

18 mg of nicotine per 1 milliliter of liquid.
If you have 1 milliliter in a cartridge then you have 18 milligrams of nicotine (I do not know how much a cartridge holds, just guessing but I assume it couldn't any more than 1ml maybe 2?).
Marlboro red = 1.2mg nicotine per cigarette.
Marlboro light = 0.8mg nicotine per cigarette.
Marlboro light = 0.5mg nicotine per cigarette.

Time for you to so some math for comparison :)

That helped alot :D Thank you... I'm pretty sure I'm going to be working my way down to 0 nicotine eventually... I hope anyway... when I started, the kit came with 18mg cartomizers... I started buying 12mg cartomizers after that... it's been a month and 3 weeks or so, I guess... but... I've started buying liquids and since I don't know what I'll like, I've been trying samples... lots of them come in 18mg standard strengths so that's why I'm up to 18mg again... Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to poison myself... and I'm like most vapers, I don't smoke it like a regular cigarette... I take 2 or 3 inhales here and 2 or 3 inhales there...

I was also wondering... someone asked in another post how to tell if your cartomizer has run out... I'm trying not to let it get to the burnt taste because I assume it's pretty close to ruined if you let it go that far and you'll from then on taste the burnt no matter what you fill it with... So do you guys just guess-timate, or count inhales, or something else that I'm not thinking of?

I am using an atomizer so I can't say. I like the atomizers because they last for a month or two. I have even heard they last up to three if cleaned out and taken care of.

Attys have come a long way... MFRs like Cisco and Ikenvape are using really high-quality stuff. Attys used to be almost as disposable as cartos, but that has really changed. I get wonderful, consistent performance from my attys... and they can be cleaned and dry-burned back to new very easily! Im happy : )

18mg liquid is 18mg PER ML

So if a cart has 1/2 ml in it then the cart has 9mg of nic in it

But vapor is not absorbed the same as smoke. Some think it is absorbed less than smoke. it might be absorbed faster or slower than smoke. But when you vape you inhale all of the vapor that is made while when you smoke a lot of the smoke just goes up in the air. You will know if you are getting too much. if you find you are getting too much, then get some lower nic juice for when you are vaping a lot.

its a good idea to have very low nice juice on hand as well, to switch to at night before bed time. as you stated, we tend to vape more than we smoked. if you load yourself with nic before sleep time, you feel pretty wired. i usually vape 16-24mg but couple hrs before seepy-seepy time, i have a carto filled with 8mg juice....well...it works for me :)

this may differ from vendor to vendor but the nicotine dosage level starts up any where from 4-8mg being the lowest, 11-18mg the medium, 24-36mg the highest. the highest nic level i've seen on a lot of vendors is 36mg. some place between 11 to 18mg of nic level would be a good range to begin for starters :D

Those numbers actually refer to the tar content per cigarette, Snoopy Fish had the numbers right for the Marlboro range, but it can differ (only slightly) for each brand.

I found this in a report on Ruyan V8 & 16mg carts:

Nicotine dose
An e-cigarette user will need to take more puffs more often, and deeper puffs
confer little advantage for V8 users.
Six puffs every 5 minutes would deliver the same dose of nicotine
delivered by shallow inhaling of 10 (35 mL) puffs) from one tobacco
cigarette every hour. This however will not achieve the high
immediate nicotine boost which many smokers crave.
Nicotine overdose is unlikely, even though nicotine delivery may vary
considerably between brands.
Nicotine absorption site
The nicotine dose and particle size are
too small to ensure either deposition in the alveoli or bronchioles or
rapid nicotine absorption as in cigarette smoking.

Revelation! I've actually been having problems sleeping... And even with knowing nicotine has that side effect, I just credited it to feeling so much better and having such an extreme amount of extra energy lately. I am definitely going to try that! I've even resorted to taking Tylenol PM a couple of times...

So so helpful... ty ty

You can pull out your calculator all you want. All you'll do is get the wrong answer with a high degree of confidence. There are many ingredients in cigarettes that interact with nicotine to effect you. People smoke differently. They vape differently and they vape differently than they smoked. Not only that as they learn to vape, the way they vape changes with time. That's why you should have a variety of nic strengths ranging from 24mg to 12mg around for a while. It's also why anyone that says they know what nic strength you are going to need is just guessing. No matter how much they believe what they are saying.

As many have said, I believe that the "nicotine experience" when vaping is unique to each user.

I wasn't sure what level of nicotine to start with either, so I decide to go middle of the road and get 16mg's.

What I am discovering is that 16mg's is not enough for me. I find myself enjoying the act of vaping, but I'm just not feeling the nicotine "kick" that I want. (I used to smoke about a pack a day of Pall Mall Reds...)

I just ordered some 32mg cartos yesterday and they should arrive tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the experience.
