From where I sit it's pretty spiffy. I work 18-22 hour shifts, driving for a living running people from the airport to where they are going throughout the day and night. I'm not about to goof about with 18350's, or anything less than an 18650. I carry 8 Sony VTC4 18650's with me on my shifts in addition to those in my 3 Poldiacs I have with me. I don't have time to deal with anything less.

Generally I go through 4-5 of them per shift, but still carry 8 of them, just because I don't know what's going to happen on any given shift. It depends on how long we have to sit in the holding lot between flights. I've used six of them in a shift down to 3.8 volts. I generally like to swap them out at that point.

I vape gennies at .7 ohm over 400 mesh with my DIY juice at 10 mg. To me 18650's are the only way to go given my job and the hours I work, 18-22 hour shifts. I want a constant vape during my shifts so I carry with me 3 Poldiacs with Sony VTC4 18650's in them, and another 8 of those batteries. I have two DID'S and a Kraken on those Poldiacs. This arrangement has served me very well.

How nifty is the 18650? How long does an 18650 battery generally last?

They are really two different questions.

1. Niftiness: It's super nifty. It's niftiness fall somewhere between the niftiness of the ipod and deep dish pizza. Sure it's not as nifty as a smoking hot 20 something bikini model but that's still pretty damn nifty in my book.
2. How long will it last? Hard to answer. Depends on any number of factors, not the least of which is the device is used in, the usage, the make and model, amps, volts, watts - all that crazy electronics talk you hear babbled about on ECF from people without degrees in electrical engineering. Seriously, you'd think half the forum works for Tesla Motors (which are just silly expensive. For that kind of money, you should just get real used sports car, environment be damned!). Generally they last about 2 years for me depending on the number of cycles. They last longer than an 18500 but not as long as a 26650 or dilithium crystals.

What sort of setup are you talking about putting it in though? What brand is it? What is the Mah? Not every battery is the same. Here is one I am going to be ordering me soon. It is just what I need for the new setup I am getting on payday.

LG HG2 18650 LiMn 3000mAh Battery ⋆ MistHub
I have an Istick 60Watt, an EVic (Joytech) VT 50 Watt, and a Kangertech Subox mini. I'm sorry for not being clear I meant how long is the batteries life in terms of a year, 2 years, whatever, in general. My fault for not being clear and thorough.

Yes the life span a year 2 years just in general removing variables from the equation

Impossible
Brand
Rotation numbers
Charging practices
Charger quality(stability)
Discharge rate
% of discharge in use

Everything effects Total Battery Life.
Most of my original 18650 batteries still work well at 2+ years - Daily use and 2 in rotation.
A pair of my MNKE batteries, used sparingly and in rotation have crapped out in under 1yr. Lucky to get 30 draws before they fall flat.

Expect less from Rebranded and Better from Quality manufacturers.

How nifty is the 18650?

My 18650
is pretty nifty;

Because I can vape it all day
and the charge never goes away;

Wherever I may roam
My 18650 will always do subohm;

5 or 6 hours, I don't know
My 18650 will make my coils glow;

So to all of those in doubt
A pair of 18650's will make you want to shout

lithium batteries have a nominal lifespan of 300 recharges.
So if you recharge a battery once a day, theorectically it is supposed to last maybe a year.
And if istead you have 2 batteries in rotation, recharging 1 battery per day (1 battery gets recharged every 2 days) then the pair is going to run to 2 years.

Of course if you are pushing that battery to the limits, it's not going to last as long; people running 30 watts on one battery might only use it for 3 months then it's no good to them but it's still good for me because I'm only running 10 watts.
I mean the battery doesn't just run like brand new for 300 recharges then die; the battery gets old, and slows down so to speak.
