How safe are wicks???

Wanted to get everyones opinion on this....is ss mesh a safer alternative.....why i am askin is bcos im on the lookout for a rebuildable atty and cant decide on wick or mesh......

Both SS mesh and Silica wicks have been used by alot of vapers in Singapore and Worldwide. So, I guess that sums up everything.

Now, you gotta do your homework and learn more in regards to which hybrid or rebuildable atty is more suitable to your vaping style. Hope this helps!!

That's where I learnt to use natural fibers yah? Anyways after thinking it through I believe it is a little blown out of proportion.

Firstly there is no known medical history of pulmonary histamic reactions caused by inhalation of those mentioned "microscopic silica fibers dislodged by MICROBLASTS". Well maybe unstudied enough but no medical journals out yet... I think.

Human body reactions to inhaled foreign bodies are well documented, eg, abestos fibers in mining communities, fiberglass handling,hay fever..... etc.

Lung full capacity is approximately 5 litres but tidal volume is only about 1 litre. Just a deep breath alone is not enough to fill up the lungs completely, let alone allow most "microscopic" fibers to enter pass the bronchus.

Silica is basically inert in the body so only way it would affect us is to cause a histamic reaction in the bronchial passages, or inflammation of your lung passages otherwise known as asthma.

Any asthmatic reactions to your stardust so far?

Asmathic reasctions occur to me when my stardust burns out..so after a few inhales , i really will get breathless and start chocking for air. But the thing is I dont have a asthma history

Symptoms are right only half. There must be inflammation of the bronchial passages as well which means swelling and tightening of the passages usually for days until the inflammation subsides, AKA wheezing.

Your symptoms are caused by the evil known as menthol and you are vaping too much of it!

Erm, I was referring to mod and atty selection. Not wick selection. Post edited so as to not cause any
confusion.

Oh ok... But the advise you gave was valid. To do own research before deciding on type of mod and atty as they are invariably designed for different wicking systems.

Anyways, I think the TS is addressing a proper question in vaping, the safety of the equipment used.

Among my kakis we discussed similiar things like PG, VG, food safe plastics, wick material..... when we are not discussing how to mod a MONSTER HAYABUSA!

nah too bad it wasnt the moenthol i as vaping that got me into that situatiob..it was vanilla custard ....still the menthol works awesome to me!

If you're really weighing e options of wicking materials, go check out ss mesh for wicking. There are food-grade options available.

With regards to silica and fibreglass being inhaled, I guess a proper rebuild by ensuring as little or no frays as possible and a weekly (or say 3-4 days, if you're really concerned) change in wicks would help to alleviate any fears or concerns with regards to e wick disintegrating into micro-mini bronchial ticklers.
