Hi all....I am wondering how to add alcohol and what kind, to get the most throat hit from lower mg juices. I have read that you can add Everclear, but I live in NY where Everclear is illegal to buy locally. How about Bacardi 151? (I think that is available here, though I haven't checked. Also, could you use 100 proof vodka? Or isn't that strong enough?
I am wondering about amounts as well....how much would I add to say, a sampler sized bottle. Throat hit is really important to me, and I get it fine with 24-26 mg juices, but in the evening, would like to try vaping with less nic- but still get that TH! I am looking to add it to my 12 and 18 mg juices.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. I tried looking for info here, but couldn't find the specifics I needed. Thank you!

I tried adding about 8-10% of Pyrat Rum Pistol. It's a pricey rum, good for sipping neat, and tastes great. It seemed to work pretty well in my juice, increased the TH and added nicely to the flavor. I did notice a serious reduction in vapor, but I had also added some other flavors. I needed to add some VG to the mix, so I don't know the exact final % of rum.

Also, I'm not sure if an expensive rum tastes any different from the cheap stuff when you're vaping it, because this was my first try. Also, I believe the common wisdom is to use only CLEAR booze, with no added flavors or sugary stuff, because it's hard on atty's. Meh. I'm not very wise.

Look at this cool bottle! How could I pass that up?

I use 5% to 8% Everclear (190 grain alcohol) when mixing my on e-juice.

Drip 2 to 3 drops from a syringe into a cart is all that is needed.

However, 80 proof rum (white or gold) works well and gives a subtle taste.
Cognac is even better. I have tried E&J v.s.o.p and Courvoisier v.s.o.p. with the later giving a better background taste ( as it should at $26.00 + per bottle).

100 proof vodka ( the brand makes no difference, it's the proof that matters) seems to be a standard, clear, tasteless additive. Gin would be interesting because its base is the same as vodka, but with spices and juniper berries added.

If you can get bacardi 151 you can get everclear 151. They legalize by alcohol content. Myself I would worry a bit about bacardi as it's going to have molasas in it and my create buildup in your atty that could kill it faster. Just guessing though

In California we can buy Bacardi 151 but can't buy Everclear... interesting, huh? One of the major eLiquid vendors stated that he uses Bacardi in many of his mixes. I was having problems with a buildup on my attys and had to clean them frequently. Now that I only use my DIY I never have to clean my attys and they never die. Haven't lost one in the 5 or so months I've been vaping my own, but I never use any alcohol in my recipes so maybe that's why.
