How to boil organic cotton for wick

Yea I've tasted the peroxide in it after boiling, what am I doing wrong?

I had to boil my cotton twice before I got everything out of it. I used distilled water to boil the cotton in. After I strained it I rinsed the cotton with more distilled water and let it dry. Just repeat that until you get rid of any of the bad taste in the cotton!
