So far, I've just wiped out the inside of the tank with a q-tip before putting a different juice in the same tank, and I wipe the outside with a paper towel every time I refill.

If you're looking to fully clean them, I'd probably just soak in distilled water and let them air dry. Pull off the tip of the mouth piece and the internal piece as well in order to avoid trapping water so that the tank can fully dry. I wouldn't suggest boiling since they're all plastic, and I'm not sure how well they'd hold up to isopropyl alcohol.

I have never taken the caps off of any of my tanks at all.

I use an atty to puncture the tanks. Use a syringe to fill them. To clean I fill a syringe with water and flush it out.
I believe that never removing the caps for any reason contributes to the fact that I have had zero issues and the units continue to perform flawlessly.
But, who really knows..........

I just got done doing this. I pulled the 2-piece mouth hole out with a tiny pin. There are 2 pieces; the one you can touch with your tongue and another inside that's held in by the first. Then, as said before, pop the tank cap off. I used plain, white vinegar, then rinsed with hot tap water. ....-n-span!

The vapor is emitted outside the tank and drawn into the mouthpiece through holes on either side of the tank where the flat veins are molded in the side. I had some juice that got into the mouthpiece, so I totally disassembled the tank and cleaned it thoroughly. A tiny smear of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) will seal the cap if you have leakage issues between the cap/tank.

Hope this helps answer your question. Good luck!
